Tilman- I had someone write to me with the same complaint and when I looked at their email alert notice it looked as if their email program was inserting spaces and line breaks that translated into equal signs being stuck in the middle of the URL/links. That is really the fault of the email program and not in how the alerts are being sent out. The person who complained to me said it wasn't happening before the last month or so and that something changed--maybe so, but the problem still seems to be in how the recipient's email client handles 2 line links. Joan PS: Maybe we both have the same person complaining about this? ------------------------- Hi, I've tried to find earlier accounts re. this question but came back empty-handed, so let me ask again: A visitor to my boards is complaining about how she receives her alerts: The links for board+messages there are broken, so that the link doesn't work - i.e. the rest of it in line 2 is missing. >From what I recall this is a problem with her ISP's mailserver and/or the email client she uses, not a problem on Rootsweb's or Ancestry's side - right? Is there anything I can tell her in order to improve things ? Thanks Tilman **************Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. Watch the video on AOL Home. Joan, the person who wrote to me is one Sharon - FWIW She sent me a link she had found in her alerts - like this http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.ceeurope.histreg.bohemia/9049.4 = /mb.ashx?r=3Dan >From my quick research on the web I found that this CAN happen during transmission and thru the way a specific email client works. Her client is Eudora. This very board is on my alerts too, and I don't see broken links. She also wrote: > I sent the message below to "Message Boards" <[email protected] and > [email protected] but in both cases, it bounced. Are these valid addresses for questions about this issue? They *might* be able to do something, since Sharon claims they did so in the past with RootsWebReview and a similar problem there.
