The purpose and topic of the boards are to seek help and gather GENEALOGY information relative to the respective counties, and the author's own words clearly state his purpose is PERSONAL GAIN, or specifically a Master's thesis having nothing to do with genealogy. --------------------------- Given the statements above, my observation is that people use the message boards for various reasons ( searching for old high school chum, to make contact with an old military buddie, etc.) Those types of posts aren't about genealogy either. Should we then be deleting those posts too ? Unless a person is specifically posting a message for illegal or harassment reasons, working on a Master's Thesis shouldn't be a reason to remove messages IMHO, especially when the man is providing some historical county information at his web site. 3. Not as long as they can be moved to LOST FAMILY AND FRIENDS, a MILITARY board or another TOPIC board. How does David know this person is gathering info for a thesis? Did he ask him about his post? Is this a case of mind reading? We have lots of very good websites on USGenWeb Project that deals with history of schools, occupations, etc and they are very much genealogy related. So how is this any different? If the post is about schools then it belongs on a board for that topic. Seems simple enough to me. 3. Kathie, Because I read the posts before I removed them, and as I indicated in my original post he clearly states so in many of his message bodies, which appears to me to be a pretty good indication. :-) FWIW, the count is now much higher because he is still going strong as I write this.
