    3. A few of my lists kept getting spammed, so I put them temporarily on moderate. That also stopped their spam from reaching the board. That also gave me an opportunity to check the posting records of those who wanted to subscribe before I accepted them. Things are better and I am debating with myself (GRIN) on whether to unmoderate a couple of the formerly problem lists. Improvements have been shown and I hope that trend continues. don ----- Original Message ----- From: JYoung6180@aol.com To: decann@infionline.net, listowners@rootsweb.com, boards-admins@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, 21 May 2009 16:08:55 +0000 (UTC) Subject: Re: [BAd] [LO] Spam through the gateway Staff used to routinely ask for a volunteer to mark spam from the gateway for removal -- I don't know whether that is still the case or not. It wouldn't hurt to let the HelpDesk know which boards the spam post is on so they can be removed from the list archives. Joan In a message dated 5/21/2009 11:26:32 A.M. When we do that and David (or whoever) removes the dozens of board posts, does he as a matter of practice also remove all of the posts from the archives that made it through the gateway to the lists? As long as I've been an admin that never occurred to me before, but should we also individually request removal from the list archives of what can be dozens or even hundreds (in some cases) of spam posts? That is NOT a task I relish taking the time for, not when the number of lists can be so high in some cases, but do we need to do it? My apologies for cross-posting this to BAd and LO both, but this is one of those questions that leaves me wondering which one it belongs on, if not both. :-( David E.
