My wording was bad here--should have said could staff please REJECT all locked objections--not DELETE them which would, in effect, delete the messages that are now sitting where they belong but still have the old objections attached. Brynne- I apologize too for all of the ones I've moved and NOT deleted the objection first but I ran into a problem last night in trying to toggle back and forth between the posts marked for moving and the objections and lost a couple of the posts/threads and was unable to find them again if I'd rejected the objection FIRST. ARGH! Losing them after waiting months to be able to move them isn't something I want to do with the remaining 150 or so I still have left to move. That is why I posted my query on this list yesterday asking whether staff could just PLEASE delete all LOCKED objections they find that are sitting on the board where the objection says they should be moved to. I can't think of a reason for any objection to remain that is marking a post/thread to moved to the SAME board the objection is now listed on. I'm betting I'm not alone in this dilemma--but I'd rather have staff delete the errant objections than lose more of those misplaced posts while I'm trying to move them. Not all of them are moving successfully on the first try and the more messing with them I've done the more I was losing them in the process and with the objections "gone/rejected" already I couldn't FIND the posts again--my marker was gone. <sigh> I had about 350 to move so I don't have the luxury of spending more time than I have to to get the moves accomplished. (The USA General board is a magnet for misplaced posts of all types and varieties. <g>) Joan In a message dated 5/20/2009 11:10:46 A.M. Joan, I understand. Luckily, I didn't rely on the abuse reports for the posts I needed to move; rather, I set up a separate bookmark file. Granted, I do not have anything near 150 posts that needed moved, thanks in large part to having previously cleaned all my boards from top to bottom. The most active board (500-600 posts per month) only had 8 that needed moved. David- It seems to be working for SOME old marked objections for unmovable posts but not all. The problem now will be--for those that DO now move and are marked is that the objections are going to the new location along with the messages and will be locked by us--so the admins of the destination boards won't be able to remove them. Will staff be taking care of them? The problem with removing them first before attempting to move the posts (which we COULD do) and THEN trying to move the posts is that not ALL will move and then we'd lose track of still unmovable posts. Let us know how you would like this issue handled. Thanks! Joan In a message dated 5/19/2009 5:20:29 P.M. We have had some headway for the fix on the "Move Message" feature. You should be able to try the "Move Message" from the boards as well as any unlocked move issues in the objection queue. Please note that when moving a message to the surname category, that you will need to type in the location address by hand. This seems to only be required for messages going to the surname category. This is only temporary. For example, when clicking on the "MOVE MESSAGE" feature, the three categories come up to choose the location pathway. The Surname option only puts in the path name of "surname". Putting a dot after the surname and then the name of the board (surname.coleman) that you are moving the message to will work just fine. Many administrators have objections that are locked by staff due to the move issue. These will be unlocked for everyone within 24 hours. Thank you everyone, David

Rene'- When you posted your message to the list I had just finished reviewing my boards--two "unknowns" among them. I had already found and deleted the multiple posts to which you referred and moved a single post to the appropriate surname board before doing so. I even had dupes of the post to delete on my unknown boards. I suspect most or all of the "unknowns" are in the hands of admins who frequently review their boards and will zap these without staff help. However, a "heads up" post on this list certainly does no harm nor does it hurt to let staff know! Thanks! Joan In a message dated 5/19/2009 2:27:53 P.M. And often posting multiples on a single board. :( I just removed THREE exact same posts from a single board for this username. Joan In a message dated 5/11/2009 6:31:14 P.M. I need some help. First, I've never had a board with a super long name. Second, I can't find the board to navigate to it. I want to MOVE this http://boards.ancestry.com/wap.intlrecordsenglang/139.1.1/mb.ashx (henny post) TO the SAME board and I'll edit the subject line. Could someone help me with the path? Would the path be move.wap.intlrecordsenglang ??? Thanks for the help, Judy

If it is movable [that feature is still not working for many of us and requires a report abuse to staff if you can't do it. Be prepared for a long wait.
