As far as finding posts in the recycle bin that you did not put there, I think it would be safe to say, that it was done by staff intervention. I wouldn't worry about it. Staff doesn't give a reason but it could something like multiple cross postings or other board violations. I can't comment on your other problem since I have not experience that one -- yet. J. Yesterday, while working on one of my boards, I inadvertently deleted a new post. When I went to the recycle bin to restore it, I found to my shock there were 193 posts there from 2003 to 2009, none of which I had placed there. Also, when I restored the one I had caused to be there, instead of going to the end of the list where it should be, it is interspersed among the other older posts. How did this happen and how do I correct it? Am I misunderstanding something completely? (Not an unlikely scenario.) Thanks for help.
Yes I have noticed - has anyone contacted the help desk, etc? Has anyone else noticed it has been nearly a month since the boards were indexed? Brynne
Must be just some boards. Last night I visited and adminned several boards with no problems. But occasionally in the past I could not log in as admin. So it is a hit or miss situation as it appears. donkelly ----- Original Message ----- From: Lynne <l_klein@verizon.net> To: boards-admins@rootsweb.com Sent: Fri, 14 Aug 2009 20:34:53 +0000 (UTC) Subject: Re: [BAd] Admin logins not working on boards Great! :-) Kathie Harrison wrote: >Thanks --clearing the cache files did the trick > >On Fri, Aug 14, 2009 at 2:51 PM, Lynne<rwlist.admin@verizon.net> wrote: > > >>Kathie, >> >>Everything seems to be working fine. >> >>Try clearing your cache and then logging in as admin. >> >>Lynne >> >>Kathie Harrison wrote: >> >> >> > > > > ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to BOARDS-ADMINS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

Kathie, Everything seems to be working fine. Try clearing your cache and then logging in as admin. Kathie- Then you have a different problem than the rest of us had when the master database wasn't recognizing our logins. Your case will most likely require staff actually taking a look to see what the issue is and fixing it. Joan In a message dated 8/14/2009 3:29:59 P.M. Kathie- The login problem only lasted an hour or so. It has been fixed for a long time now. If you can't login as admin now you must have a different problem than what we previously discussed. Also...keep in mind that when the login doesn't work (for anyone) people can't POST to the board either, so we are not getting behind in our admin duties. Joan I have not been able to login for TWO days and when others were having this problem I was NOT. I have made no changes to my computer, no one else has access to it and I CAN post to the boards. Tim- If you login at MyAccount under the username you use to admin boards, you will get this information: https://myaccount.rootsweb.com/ Joan In a message dated 8/12/2009 12:44:45 P.M. I was able to login on my boards just now but earlier it wasn't working as has been stated on the list. Unless things have changed recently, the login information is maintained in a master database that isn't a part of the board database. The two databases must be able to "talk" to each other for the login to work. So, in all likelihood the problem that we ran into earlier was a temporary issue with the two databases communicating and it seems to be fixed now. Joan
I have sent a note to messageboards but it will probably sometime before I receive a reply. I will let you all (y'all since I am a Southerner) know if I do get anything. You're not alone, Jim. I can't login to message boards on either side. They're probably working on something and we just have to be patient. Has anyone heard just what the developers are attempting to do with the board information pages? It would help (I think) if I just knew what is going on rather than be kept guessing. Jim
