Nan, Kathie is right, you should NEVER writer directly to a spammer and/or click on any links or attachments in spam. Doing so will only give them another confirmed address to send their stuff to and, well, will only add to the spam that is likely already coming into your spam filters or inbox. Since this is spam on the boards, the only real option to us is to report it via the "Report Abuse" links on the boards so RootsWeb can remove them and the board account it was posted from. :-( David E. I agree with "Brother Jim," but you better not get TOO excited just yet. Not until you're sure they do work. I thought the same thing about the board alerts supposedly being fixed recently. . .until I noticed MINE still don't work and never have from the beginning, and now they won't even reply to me when I follow up about it with appropriate RW Staff. :-( David E. When logged into your admin account you will see at the top of a message board page: You are registered to administer the following boards This is the list of boards that you admin. You can also get a list by using 'my account' which you will find at the the top of this page: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ If you haven't done so already you will need to sign up. To put boards up for adoption you can list them here to see if anyone is interested in taking them over or you can just email messageboards@rootsweb.com and request that they be put up for adoption. Judy- To the best of my knowledge, there is no limit on the size of board posts. As to what would happen if a "too big" board post came through the gateway, it would probably get stuck in pending requests like any other "too big" message coming directly to a list. The only board limit I'm aware of is on the size of attachments (I think that limit -- off the top of my head, is 4 mb). That would have no effect on gateway posts, though, since the attachments don't come through to the lists anyway. Joan In a message dated 11/1/2009 8:07:23 A.M. Sue, I don't know if LD (List Development list) would be the appropriate place or not, but have you or anyone else made that very suggestion there and/or to the Help Desk? I've wondered the same thing myself in the past, but I suppose it's like the darned list spam when it seems so helpless as if stopping (or at least slowing it down) the spam seems so much like trying to keep the tide in the ocean from coming in using a teaspoon. :-( David E.
