    3. Hi, You can always reply to the poster on a board by going to the board and clicking on the person's name and copying the email address then initating an email to them.. A lot of work for a person with a lot of boards.. There should be a better way to do it... Oh and you better get that address before you move it... Something like "To reply to this posting please use the above link. DO NOT reply to the list, as the poster may not be a list subscriber." Ed P.S. I also have given up trying to educate my posters to reply on the board and not to the list. No--it doesn't mean the BOARD admin cannot find the email address of the board poster as always--merely that it won't be a part of the email sent via the gateway to the list. LIST posters won't see it and can't reply privately to the poster unless, of course, they click the link and obtain the email address from the board. I figure that most list posters, if they bother to click the link to the post on the board are then just going to reply (as they should) on the board and not go through the process of getting the email address of the board to write to the boart poster. 3. Jill-- Admins are not *required* to add surnames to the surname box. We are charged with "maintaining the integrity" of the boards. Remove extraneous entries so the search engines work as intended. Board users need to be educated how to get the best use out of the board --- inlcuding proper use of the surnames box. It will be interesting to see what the new software will bring. Cheers, Lauren

    2. I apologize for the cross-posting, as I will be taking the list issue to Listowners. I have an open gateway on one board. (I admin both the board & the list.) The problem of list users not answering gatewayed posts on the board is HUGE. I've done everything within my power on the list end to educate list users as to proper procedures. (Taglines, a polite canned email, explanations on the list, etc.) This of course infuriated the listers, who then flamed me off-list. They still don't respond properly, except now they seem to do it on purpose. But that's for another Admins' list. Now it's the board users turn. They've been posting messages to the board that, in my opinion, are baiting the list users. Examples such as posts on how to respond to gatewayed message board posts, shots at how lazy the list users are, boards are better than lists, etc. It's all off-topic for the board - which is a location specific board, so the messages have been removed. I've considered just closing the gateway, which I'd hate to do. I've spoken with the previous board & list admin and he informed me that he had the same exact problem and just gave up. My questions are: 1 - Am I correct in continuing to remove these message board posts since they are off-topic? It's generating some angry private emails. 2 - Does anyone know how this issue (responding to gatewayed message board posts) will be addressed under the new board system?
