Ok this one was posted all by it's self in 2003, I put in in the recycle bin till I knew what to do with it. Should I put it in that thread then? Other wise the date on it was 2 Feb 2003. I just restored it so you could see it there. Send Report Abuse and in the mesage state you are the Admin and need Staff to create a Brahler surname board so this post can be moved to the correct board. Staff often will follow through and move the post. Or you can mark the post as unread so you can see it easier in the list later, then... Go to bottom and Request a Board... do not click the volunteer box unless you want the board. When the Board is created, go back and move the post. When I replied to the message (not noticing that it was a gatewayed post) the To address was the poster of the board post. Has something changed or was I wrong in my thinking. Jean Jean- Nothing has changed, but how your reply to a gatewayed post works on unmigrated lists depends upon the REPLY TO setting chosen for an individual list by the list admin. If the admin has the list set to REPLY TO LIST then hitting reply will send the reply ONLY to the list. If the list is set to REPLY TO SENDER then hitting reply will send a reply ONLY to the poster and if you hit REPLY ALL the reply will go to both the poster and the list. Joan
OK. Thanks Joan. I didn't realize that it could be set that way. We always read on the lists that to reply to a board post you need to go to the board, so I was really surprised when I checked the sent message (after realizing it was a board post) that it was addressed to the sender and not the mail list. Judy that is not quite the correct way to do it. You request a new board be created for BRAHLER and that you have a post on a board you admin and it needs to be moved. Once they create the new board then the post can be moved. Report abuse link is not the correct way to get this done. You have to login and click the REQUEST A NEW BOARD at the bottom of the page. I have a question concerning posts that are gatewayed to a mail list. I received a gatewayed post on one of the mail lists that I belong to (I am not admin of list or board, just a subscriber). The mail list has not been migrated to the new server yet. I thought when you replied to a gatewayed post on the list that the message would not go to the poster of the board post. When I replied to the message (not noticing that it was a gatewayed post) the To address was the poster of the board post. Has something changed or was I wrong in my thinking. Jean

I'm not usually looking for a Board per se, but if I happen to be logged on while using them, I will sometimes see a "Become and Admin" notice somewhere towards the top. That's how I've ended up adopting Boards that I don't have the mail list for. This only applies to mailing list members wanting to reply to gateway messages. The poster's address will still be available at the board site, right? If someone wanted to answer the poster privately or the board admin wanted to notify them of anything... they would only need to visit the board site and get the address there wouldn't they?. Just curious to know if the boards have a list of adoptable boards like there are on the mailing lists?? If so, where would one find that? Carlette
I believe Joan is only talking about board posts gatewayed to lists; the poster's private email address won't be included when the post appears on the list. Nothing to do with us board admins, if I understand correctly.
