Joan Hi Joan and all, Which brings up another question. There are lots of lists with no admins. Who is going in and approving those gateway messages. Feel sorry for staff if they are having to monitor all of those. Take care - Emma

    3. Basically because of the identity of the poster, other admins suggested I use report Staff for them to review these posts. The poster is said by other admins to be barely covering the fact he charges for his "look up". So I reported it to Staff for them to decide. There are a bunch of similar posts - same poster. 3. Joan I had already reported this to helpdesk who put me onto boards-admins. The clever bit is that the two lists from boards today are not adminned, I know I am waiting to become an admin for them. To understand you correctly, until september or whenever, board posters who want their messages passed on the gateway will have to subscribe to lists before they send their message. This is not well advertised. The board posters are not supposed to be told they have to subscribe. Joan

    3. List subscription is not mandatory. If you post to the board and do not belong to the list your message board post goes to a pending file for the admin to approve it to be pass on to the list. From my experiences with postings to boards, admins are for the most approving message board posts. However, if you belong to the mailing list your message will go directly to the list without admin intervention because your mailing address is on the list of subscribed list members. Hope this helps. 3. Yes, joining the mailing list will allow your board posts pass onto the list without issue providing you have joined the list prior to posting to the board. If not you will need to wait for the list admin to approve your post. I have noticed that some list admins are not approving message board posts but are rejecting them stating that the board poster must join the list. This has happened to me. I did consider reporting this to the help desk as I believe that these admins need to be instructed to approve gateway messages and not confuse board users with the need to subscribe to the mailing list. -- But I didn't do that. I guess it depends on how peeved this issue makes you. <grin> At the moment, gateway messages require list admin approval. This has to do with the list migrations and is only temporary. The mailing lists staff will fix it so that gateway messages once again will flow to mailing lists without admin intervention. I am told that it should be resolved by the end of September. Well, the subject line CANNOT be a mile long--there is a physical limit to how long the subject can be (you can't type in anymore than a specific number of characters) and it is there for a reason--anything that falls within the physical limit and fits the post is the choice of the poster--not the admin. If the subject was intended to shorter in all cases the length limit would have been set to a lesser number of characters. Joan
