Judy: Not to speak for STAFF, however, he follows the "letter of the law" and does not state in his board posts that he is charging a fee. It is not til you correspond with him in private that he brings up the fee schedule. It would appear that unless a URL to a commercial site, or the mention of fees or any international symbol for currency is used in such posts, they are left. 'Tis a fine line... and he has not crossed it on the boards. Taken at face value, he's inline with the AUP. However -- yup -- I have written him and been quoted fees. He's commercial. BUT his posts on the board do not indicate such. When a post is awaiting attention and it is gatewayed from a board, you click on the appropriate string so as to read the content of the message, all you get is that it is gatewayed from a board, and you do not appear to be able to read the message to make a decision on it. Is there a way of reading the content on a board message that in gateway with a board, from the admin position.? Thanks Peter McCrae; Lists and board admin

If you don't scroll down IN the box, you probably only see the line "This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list." If that is the case, he simply needs to use the scroll bars on the side of the Message Excerpt box. Jackie Jackie -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. D'oh I can find the Administrative Board for the Boards I admin. What is the URL? Thanks.
Patricia board admins do not have an administrative page but we access the admin side of the boards by signing in with the account we are registered with as admin for a board. Do you mean the Links & Announcements? You do not have to do anything there unless you want to. Your email should be listed there if you click on it and that is all we are required to have on that link. Posts sent there stay there. In this way, it is different from the recycle bins everyone is familar with on their personal computer. One tip I have on deleting posts is after the last word in the subject line I type ::::REMOVED, REASON such as :::REMOVED, DUPLICATE IN THREAD (duplicate on board) (commercial) (spam) etc. This helps me see at glance what my reason was for deleting. It also helps me spot what Staff has deleted -- so if I want to look through those to learn what things Staff deletes. (I don't UN-delete them though) So anyway, delete as you find em and then don't worry about them ;-) Judy

Joan, Let me give you a good one. I am a member of a locality mailing list. The board is gatewayed to the list. I received a message last night on the mailing list, went to the board, read the messages and responded to one of the messages on the board asking for more info so I could do a lookup. Just a while ago I got a reject of my posted message saying I had bcc'd it and it should be sent with the mailing list name in the To: area. Now remember I posted a straight out message to the board AND I am a member of the mailing list with the same email that I used to post to the message board. It did not go through. I wrote the list admin to see if he could shed any light on what happened. Maybe he rejected it accidently but if so how did the bcc'd part get on the message. My point is that this message should have gone straight through to the mailing list since I am a member. I will wait to see what the admin has to say but wanted everyone not to expect the messages to automatically go through just because the person is a member of the list. Hey, just a follow-up. First Kathie was right about the identity. I asked Staff to decide and also did a report abuse on post of his from a Board that has no Admin. Welllllll..... the objection is gone AND the post is still on my board. So I guess the answer is his posts, made in similar fashion as the ones I reported (which many are) are judged as OK. This is sure confusing, especially in terms of the what's acceptable and based on an old thread about this same person. Is it possible different "Staff" view this issue differently? Does this mean anyone can say "contact me to do research" and as long as money is not stated that the post is ok? Lots of folks can start posting similar items then with offers of research -- but these are for pay.
