I've complained before, will complain until I get high speed, in another dozen years, that you all do not understand how we with slow speed feel. When I get online it takes over a minute to bring up Rootsweb, it takes more time to bring up the boards and my problem lists. That we have the problems with rootsweb does not help. It only increases problems. I've been banned from the LO list because I've complained, more likely will be banned from this list. When a person has slow speed dial up we can't deal with the problems as you all do, it takes time, often hours. I'm sorry, all I can do to deal with keeping up with my lists is to sell my house and move someplace else, within a fast modem range. Bob
Gee Joan, Happy you stated early today that double notifications stopped, it made me so much more comforted when I not only got doubles, but repeat doubles. I knew then that all was well:( RW
Hi, I have dial up too.. yes it is slow but you may have other problems too... if you are saving items to your computer instead of a CD/floppy/Iomega zip drive... or something, it can slow the computer down too.. which really causes problems.. How much memory do you have open on your computer? But rootsweb can't do a thing to help you... So what is it you want? or need? THanks Nelda Nelda- If a LIST SUBSCRIBER posts to a board their message SHOULD come right on through without your having to approve it. Any other posts will require approval until the gateway is fixed which should be soon. I only know what we were told--that the improvements to the boards have been put on hold until further notice so my guess is that it won't be happening anytime soon. Joan

Nelda- No--it is scheduled to be fixed by the end of the month and isn't dependent upon the updated boards which are now indefinitely on hold. Mailman is replacing the SENDER header of gc-gateway with its own SENDER header of listname-bounces and that is what isn't being recognized since we can't place that address on the accept list for our lists without letting spam through as well. :( Joan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is a KNOWN issue that should be corrected on the List tools for all the lists by the end of the month so until then Lists that have admins will have to approve the messages in their pending messages area. Lists without admins that have gateways from the corresponding boards are in limbo unless staff has time to go in and check for these and approve them. I dont know about all of you but I really dont like the new set up for the Lists. especially the admin side Why is it when you have a gatewayd board/list everyone who posts throught the board or vicaversa has to have an admin approval. This didnt need to be done before and its quite irritaging.

The gateway is broken on ALL list/Boards that are gatewayed and the list administrator has to manually send the posting from the board to the list. Since there is NO List Admin for the Holdeman list, there is no one other than rather overworked staff to handle it. We have been told that the broken gateway will be attended to sometime before the end of Sept. 2006. Until the gateway can be fixed, we must be patient. Sharon P.S. I see that you have posted many obits, etc. to the Holdeman message board. Since there is no admin for either the list or the board, why don't you adopt them?

Since changes to the mailing list software, gatewayed messages no longer flow automatically to the mailing lists. List admin intervention is required. You'll need to ask the list administrator about this. Most likely, the gatewayed messages have not yet been released from the Pending Requests folder of that list.
Gateway is not broken... Mailman needs twecking.. Mailman is not reading the boards gateway address it is seeing past that to the posters address.. Janet, THe gateways are not functioning properly right now. the problem has been noted and as soon as the boards have been completely up dated (Changed to new system) they will fix that..too!! AS I understand.. the gateway address is not bing recognised by mailman, it is seeing the address of the poster so, if the poster is not a mailing list member it is bouncing it to the admin for approval.. So hang in there... the rest of us are... give it time it will be fixed..
