I tried to email this person several different times and the email that is connected with the post is not deliverable to their mailbox. Any ideas? I don't want this to start a problem on the board. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gohrpage/harrisdna/intro.html http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gohrpage/harrisdna/group20.html See the 2 urls above. The poster is basically saying that they disagree with the interpretation of Group 20 based on that Kit# for DNA testing. And the Gohg guy won't update his webpage with the poster's beliefs about the results (or facts?) Anyhoo... the only thing about the post though is it borders on a personal attack, IMO. Jennifer, The DNA project has 20 seperate groupings of yDNA results. That is what is meant by group 20.. Although, it could be worded better .. more explanation about who what where it is about, it does explan a Harris lineage. with corrections for a public posted lineage on a different website. It seems to me that she feels that posting here might help Harrises of this lineage. I am going to email her with some advise.. Nelda Assist adnmin Gilpin yDNA project... Hi Jennifer: Other than his whining re the data not being updated, I see nothing objectionable re the post. It is data. DNA related or not, it is Harris data. Group 20 is likely an internal designation for some branch that has similar results. I would be tempted to ask him to repost without the directives against the other person, as they may be considered personal attack. Good Evening, I was just reviewing my Harris board when I came upon this post and was wondering what you think of it. Here is the link: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/message/an/surnames.harris/9746 Does anyone have any idea who Glenn Gohr is or what is meant by "Group 20"? Do you think that I should take this post off? Thank you for your advise. Jennifer -- "To accomplish great things we must not only act but also dream, not only plan but also believe." - Anatole

Ahhhhh.........well, I just learned something new. Never noticed that little yellow envelope before. Thanks! I seriously doubt there are enough staff devoted to lists and boards to go through orphaned/adoptable lists and boards and turn on the gateway for them if it wasn't previously turned on. Joan

I closed all my gateways to avoid assorted annoyances some time ago. I reopended one of them, but closed it again before the migration to the new mailing list software because of the possible problems. I do not intend to open any of them again until the upgrade of the boards. Once that upgrade takes place (or when staff at Rootsweb informs us that it will NOT take place) then I may reconsider for some or all of them. In the meantime, I have no envelopes of any color and I had forgotten completely that envelopes ever existed or that they mean something. When a board is adopted does it come to the new admin the way it used to be - or with the gateway automatically closed? or automatically open? ie - when a board is orphaned, do they change anything about the gateway? I have a suggestion, though, if they want to give us more information and maybe prod people to open gateways. They could add to that "You are the board admin" message one which would say either Messages to this board go also to the xxxxx mailing list. or Messages to this board currently do not go to the xxxxx mailing list" with a link to tell how to contact the list admin to offer positive feedback to the list admin for opening the gateway.
