    2. Hi All, It's Thursday morning here and my boards still aren't working since yesterday morning. Can't open any messages and can't see any of "My Alerts". Since staff did away with the "Help Desk" yellow box notification system, is there a notification page that can tell us what's going on and when/if it will be fixed? 3. Thanks for asking the question I was about to ask.<g> Things are much, much worse this morning. I was able to force My Alerts to display by reloading the page several times, but that just shouldn't have to be done. In addition, twice when I tried to make a message board post an error message displayed and the message wasn't posted. Trying to get any work done on the boards is impossible right now. 3. I have a pending objection on one of my boards. When I click to review the objection I get and "An error occurred" on the Admin page. I attempted to contact the Help Desk about it and when I clicked submit, it asked me to create a profile. I already have a profile; so have no desire to create a new one. Secondly, I first tried to post this message to the Admins board when I selected submit, it came back with a notice that "An error occurred while sending your message." So I selected 'retry' got the same message, however when I went back into the board, the message is there twice. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, has anyone received a response from the Help Desk. Laurie

    2. Kathie Harrison
    3. Tilman, it is not an impossible thing to have a post removed from the list archives. But there has to be good reason and must be requested by the author of the message. And NO they can't request all their messages be removed from the archives. They must have a good reason, such as private banking info posted to a list [example] or personal information about the living...or SPAM that was posted. The admin CAN then request it but has to drop a note to staff to explain that this was SPAM that made it to the list archives. The form is found here: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/remove On Dec 15, 2007 11:19 AM, Tilman Brandl <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi, > > if what you're talking about were a *BOARD* post, I would of course second > the two answers you got sofar. 1. Re: [BAd] Can't access my ADMIN to boards
    2. Well, when the boards were completely redesigned in 2001 and the recycle bin first became something that the board admins could see (it was there previously as a DELTED file but only staff could see it then), the intent was that admin COULD restore a post from the recycle bin if they had inadvertently deleted a post. It was never the intention in making the recycle bin visible to admins that they would reverse a staff decision to delete a post...only to reverse an action the admin either took in error or to reverse a request that a post be deleted if the requester changed his mind about having his own post deleted. I know just the other day I was having trouble telling which copy of a duplicate post on a board had the replies attached and which didn't. My first attempt at deletion accidentally removed the wrong copy and the replies went with it--so I restored the posts and then deleted the correct copy. I still see nothing wrong with an admin reversing an error or actions THEY THEMSELVES took. Joan --------------- When she first reported it, Elaine responded saying it was probably an isolated incident and admonished my daughter that admins are only supposed to "view" items in the Recycle Bin! **************************************See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)

    3. I asked if you had rebooted because you are having a problem that I can't reproduce on my computer, and I haven't heard others saying that they're having the same problem today (or recently as far as I can recall without consulting the archives). So it was reasonable to think that it *might* be a problem at your end. You didn't mention in your previous posts that the computer had been switched off/on recently, so I wasn't to know that it had; not everyone shuts down their machine at the end of the day. It was just a suggestion, trying to help. 3. Have you tried rebooting your computer? I have no problems accessing the admin side of my board via My Account. Tried it on a few boards when I read your first message a while ago. Normally I only access the boards via the notification email that is sent to me once a day, which I've been doing just now to check the latest posts to my boards. Had a few timeouts upon clicking on the provided links in the email, but these didn't persist when I retried. For once, I had no difficulty saving the changes I made - usually there's at least one or two.
