When the board works, except for being slow, it works quite well. I use a cable modem which is very fast, but still to move a message from A board to B board can take as long as three-five minutes. If you are an admin who uses a dial up connection, a move from board A to board B can take perhaps an hour. GRRRRRRRRRRR. So somehow the techs need to make the boards not only work, but work much faster. donkelly
The problem with the article it says that we only have to register once. I ve reported problems 4 times in the last 3 weeks and all 4 times I've had to register. It comes back and says that my address is registered, but the form to register is still there. Does this mean that there is a bug, or am I to take it that my message went to the help desk? I have not received a message from help desk to help me to determine which it is yet, has anyone else had this happen to them? Beth- I don't claim to know WHY they couldn't just associate the new Knowledge Base "Right Now" system with our existing registrations/accounts -- only that this is the reason given for us having to register for the new system. Our current registration of other features at RootsWeb and Ancestry IS connected to the Ancestry master database system (UCDM) but the UCDM account info is linked to the My Account RootsWeb Registrations---why the "Help" system couldn't also be integrated I don't know. Joan ----------- I'm afraid I agree with Lou. Registering again just to use the Help segment doesn't make sense as we've already registered and Rootsweb should already know who we are. I can understand why it would be helpful to staff to be able to track user questions and history, but not understandable is why we need another registration for them to do that. It makes me wonder if our current registration(s) are an Ancestry function to which Rootsweb has no access. Yesterday, I was able to get to messages for several hours when in user mode, but then started having trouble again. On another note: too bad the new post on the Admin News board produced a "Error Retrieving Message" banner!!! Hi Laurie, What I meant was: the message about experiencing problems is on the rootsweb side, there is nothing on the ancestry side in the help section about problems of any kind. Thank Nan! It should be mentioned that the message is on the rootsweb side of things, not ancestry, which is the side I work from. Question, when things are reported to the helpdesk via the new help pages, has anyone gotten a response back that says the message was sent? I've sent a couple of questions/reports, but cannot tell if my message actually gets sent. I get a page that says I already have a registered email, but on that same page the "fill in the blanks to register" are still there but empty. Did I explain that right? Rick- No they do NOT. It is NOT that the My Alerts page is not loading -- it is that the page is telling us we have no Message Board Alerts when I think Marilyn, and I KNOW I, should have hundreds of alerts. The Notifications came normally by email--but will NOT show up on the boards. They are NOT functioning properly for some of us and reloading a page is NOT the solution--they need to be fixed and I've reported it.
