I tried Tuesday and initially got an error screen, but when I clicked on the refresh button it worked. At least I think it worked . . . it showed no objections.<g> Beth On Jan 17, 2008 8:54 AM, <[email protected]> wrote: > Is everyone now able to view objections? Marilyn- Yes--and I still would contact the poster if I feel it is warranted. However, in this case where the poster has not replied, I'd make the assuption that they DO want the posts deleted. Since the poster was concerned about identity and didn't just ask (giving no reason) that the posts be removed, I'd probably not have written to this particular poster to try to dissuade her because even if her reasoning is misguided--she did give a reason she wanted the posts removed and I'd assume she is not going to be swayed from that decision. Thanks everyone for your replies telling me that I needed to remove the posts if the original poster requested it. I knew that, however, this issue came up back in Dec. and Joan suggested that we could write to a poster and ask them to reconsider if the information was helpful to others. She was referring to attached replies, but since this poster provided helpful information, I thought I would ask her to reconsider. Here was Joan's email from the archives: _http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/BOARDS-ADMINS/2007-12/1197735055_ (http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/BOARDS-ADMINS/2007-12/1197735055) I haven't heard from the poster so I went ahead and deleted her posts. The information she provided was from a Cemetery Index and the Death Index at ancestry. I was wondering if I could repost just the information itself since it's public information from a public forum/publication? Marilyn **************Start the year off right. The way I see it is if the person posting the objection is the same as the poster who posted the original post you have no choice- yoiu MUST remove the post. If the person objecting is NOT the original poster you can do what you like since they really have no standing in the issue since there is no personall information in the post. -- The Verminator "The path to citizenship begins with LEGAL immigration" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: [email protected] > Hello Folks, > > A poster on one of my boards, sent two objections to one of my boards > (which I can't even access again because the "Review Objections" link keeps > giving > me an Error). Hello Folks, A poster on one of my boards, sent two objections to one of my boards (which I can't even access again because the "Review Objections" link keeps giving me an Error). The person wants me to remove both posts because they don't want anyone to recognize who they are. I looked at both posts and the only identifiable information is the surname _http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.henry/ 1142.1/mb.ashx_ (http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.henry/1142.1/mb.ashx) _http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.henry/ 1142.2/mb.ashx_ (http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.henry/1142.2/mb.ashx) I emailed the person and explained that I didn't see anything in the post that would identify them, since they didn't give any personal information about themselves or give their own name. I sent this email to them on Jan. 12th asking them to contact me if they still wanted their posts removed after reading my explanation. As of today, the 15th, I haven't received any reply from them so............ My question.......How many days should I wait for a reply before I go ahead and remove the posts? Dan- Does this happen on ALL boards or only a specific one? I ask because it is usually a temporary situation caused by a message with a long line of unbreakable text (such as a lengthy URL) in a message that throws off the layout of the board. Once the offending message slide off the page the problem goes away. Joan ------------ Hi all, In the past couple of days, occasionally when I open a message, it is centered across the screen with the "find a board" section immediately below that, also centered. The Page Tools and ad are below that but correctly on the right side of the screen. Has anyone else seen this?? Dan **************Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape. http://body.aol.com/fitness/winter-exercise?NCID=aolcmp00300000002489
Joan, I've never seen the message *centered* due a long line of unbreakable text. For that situation, I always see a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the screen and "offending" (for want of a better word) text running out of the message box. And never have I seen the tool box *below* the message.... This issue has happened on a variety of boards. It corrects itself when the screen is Refreshed. This morning alone, I've had it happen at least 10 times. Dan On Jan 9, 2008 11:31 AM, <[email protected]> wrote: > Dan- > > Does this happen on ALL boards or only a specific one? First, you don't need to ask an Admin permission to create a list. If you want a Gateway open, the Admin must agree. Request the list through STAFF. Also, report the non-working email. I'm trying to locate/identify the admin of the SIRBAUGH message board. I sent e-mail to addy in the About-this-board popup and it came back "Mailbox not available" [ [email protected] ] I was pretty sure [email protected] wouldn't work, and it didn't. So, like, can anyone FIND me that admin? (g) Because I was meaning to request a mail-list for the surname, since there doesn't seem to be one and I don't want to step on dainty toes? Thanks! Cheryl -- There should be no attachments on this message, unless I specifically mentioned them above.
Kathleen- I've seen this occasionally. I've reported it to staff via email. In one case staff was able to alert me to which board and message number that particular objection was for--and when I tried to access that message number on the board directly--I got an error message. So you are getting the "null or not found" error message for a reason--there is something wrong with accessing that message whether or not there is an objection attached to it or not. Joan -------- Judy, it is not on only one objection, but several. I will report the error, was just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem. You write to Staff, tell them you want to give up the board BUT you have any Vol to take it and give them the email address of the other person. They'll remove it from you, hold it for the other person for 1 week. When I try to open certain Objections, I am receiving the following message. "ERROR: Suggestion was null or not found" The Status then reads: Locked by Kathleen Burnett. I am now beginning to receive Second objections from same posters with Attn Staff: 2nd request for a problem to be taken care of. When I try to open the second objection to correct the problem I receive again the message "ERROR: Suggestion was null or not found" Any advise??? Kathleen Burnett

Does anyone know how to hand over a board from one admin to another off the top of their head? Thanks, Dani
I have 2 location boards from the UK for adoption: LONDON>LONDON & HERTFORDSHIRE Some knowledge of local geography &/or history highly recommended, especially for the former. Yes, but . . . Just found that my largest board had somehow dropped off my alerts. So, if you use the alerts to monitor your adminned boards, you might want to check. Nan
