I have been given a board by the owner but I'm not sure how to transfer the ownership. He did a temporary password so I could get in and change it but when I go to the board and the admin center, it just gives me a list of my other boards and tells me I'm not an owner on this board. What's the process, please? Diane Diane Hettrick [email protected]

Yep, the "volunteer" link on one board, that had been broken since October, worked this a.m.! Mine are still hosed, today, too. I wrote to messageboards when this first started happening and Elaine wrote back that the problem has been reported for correction. Anna- Firsts, click the link to VIEW each objection (one at a time). When the objection window comes up and you have noted what the objector is drawing to your attention, click the link on that screen to view the actual thread/message to which the objection has been filed. The thread/message will open up in a second window. While viewing the thread you can make any edits that are needed in that thread as you normally would taking note of the reason given on the objection why it was filed. After you complete the editing or check to make sure a post where removal was corrected actually should be removed--close the board window which will return you to the objection. You can then either REJECT the objection (if your edits are completed and you do NOT wish to DELETE the message being objected to) or you can click the button to delete/remove the post if you have determined that the post needs removal. Remember that if you delete a post in a thread that any posts attached to it as replies will also be deleted--so consider that first when reviewing the thread and be sure to move any replies that should/could remain on their own on the board to a new place on the same board (assuming that is where they belong). I rec'd my notifications for a couple of different board messages however, the urls are incorrect and bring up a " The page cannot be displayed" This one is on the Cutshall board for a message I had posted http:///mbexec/msg/an/ChQ.2ACEB/314.3.1 [note there are three /// after the http: but even taking one / away and trying it doesn't work.] I went online to the message boards and can read the messages that were posted so it's not that they are not accessable. The url that came thru gatewayed on the list was http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.cutshall/314.3.1/mb.ashx and that worked just fine. Is this something that I need to report or is it a known problem ? Kay Cutshall
Two of us mentioned it earlier here on this list, but I don't know if it's been reported to the "authorities" yet. I couldn't find any notices anywhere about the problem so guess it's time to do some reporting.<g> Beth On Jan 31, 2008 6:57 AM, Cutshall <[email protected]> wrote: > I rec'd my notifications for a couple of different board messages however, the urls are incorrect and bring up a " > The page cannot be displayed" > This one is on the Cutshall board for a message I had posted http:///mbexec/msg/an/ChQ.2ACEB/314.3.1 [note there are three /// after the http: but even taking one / away and trying it doesn't work.] I went online to the message boards and can read the messages that were posted so it's not that they are not accessable. John: Are you saying that you posted to www.rootsweb.com (whatever message board) and your post appears on a www.ancestry.it site (whatever the URL is) on a message board? Is your name listed as Author? If that is the case, then all is well. Rootsweb and Ancestry are mirrored. To use one, provides permission for it to be viewed via all the "skins" used to display the messages. And if it is on the message board, there is no fee to access it. I am not quite following what you are saying and how it pertains to Administration of message boards. Seems to be a board user/copyright question. Where is the query posted that you did not provide permission for?
