    3. Joan and Lynne Thank you for your help. I can't spell, it turns out. I own the Snowden board and list - with an E - not Snowdon - with an O. I've been dumping all the messages in one file and not noticing the spelling difference between Snowdon and Snowden. I'm not going to bother you with the message headers until I watch it some more. I am subbed to both lists and they are both gatewayed with the message boards, so it may be that I'm the one getting two messages, or it may be that the poster is posting separately to the board and the list or maybe she's posting to both boards. I put in for adoption of the Snowdon board and have already received confirmation of ownership. In fact, I received the same message six times. Seems to be my week for duplicates. The list has an admin already. I should probably look for Snowdin... 3. No. I believe that this is another "BUG" on the boards and God knows it is all too important to implement "NEW" and "IMPROVED" features before TESTING. and FIXING bugs that have been around for more than a year since the new boards were brought online. I am very unimpressed with the way things have gone since TGN bought the "business". If anyone has looked at amy of the umpteen pages on Rootsweb, there have been hardly ANY corrections to old links, FAQ's, etc. That is how NOT to run a company. Since Rootsweb is the free part, their website is BADLY neglected. So why should any of the rest of their business be any better? 3. Nan, I still do not get any pop-up box since they made this change and there is no link for me to turn off. I think there is a new bug with this feature. I have tried in admin and user mode and still only see the underlines on surnames and holding the cursor over this does nothing. 1. Re: [BAd] duplicates to list
    2. Diane- Are you SURE that the entire list is receiving duplicates of the gateway posts or could it just be you? I ask because the most common cause of dupes is filters set in the recipient's email program. If you could show us BOTH copies of the SAME message complete with full expanded headers it would help us to figure out why you received the dupes. I checked the list archives for March and I find only one copy of each gatewayed post in the archives--but that, in and of itself, doesn't prove anything because only one message with the same message ID will be placed in the archives. So if two messages have the same message ID only one will be archived anyway. Joan ------------- I have the Snowdon board and list and they are gatewayed. Two copies of each board message are coming to the list. I checked the board and it looks quite normal. 3. One more "voice" on this issue? So, architectural in nature... I'd still say LEAVE them because individual hands built each -- whether my, yours or someone else's gr-gr-gr-gr grandfather (or uncle). I post old location photos and do "walking" descriptions inside and out for any location I have personally seen. People love it. I happen to have the ONLY known photo of a church MANY of my ancestors built abt. 1860. By many, I mean the families of L-A-N-E, A-N-T-H-O-N-Y (both my 4th & 5th gr-gr grands), plus about 20 related families. Luckily, the church their fathers built in ca. 1832 still stands and last year, *I* got to sit on the original benches all members had used since that time. (how cool) It still has it's original outhouse (unused) and a porta potty nearby (still no indoor plumbing). I can't tell you how thrilled I felt to see and touch the walls "my" family built. Of course, I skipped visiting the outhouse-- a 2 seater. So... even "architecture" adds to family history--- if it's your family's woodworker, carpenter, mason, etc. who built the place. 3. I can agree with that. I wouldn't mind having a picture of the one-roomer my GM taught in for a couple years; I do have a class photo, but it doesn't show the building itself. For that matter I wouldn't object to having a photo of the school I first attended ... by the time I was in 2nd grade they had closed it and opened the new building. It may not be "genealogy" but it sure would count as "family history". Cheryl Dr. Nancy wrote: > Seems to me it's a sad loss of information to delete those posts.
