now, looking at the example message - YES, I've seen some of them in the past, but ticked them off as being leftovers of failed database transfer operations. I've never reported it ... Not on mine. Isn't "Granny" OLD -- she would have to at least declare to be13 yrs old to post... so if 13 yrs in 1900 and it's 2009, boy she's getting up there. LOLOL Seriously-- no, I have not seen any 1900 posts. No, I don't get any notice. I was only explaining what a Security Certificate is and what a notice of expiration means.. Lou, For the past couple of days or so, I've been getting this same issue every time I click on the link to Sign In on the RootsWeb boards. The Sign In page loads and I get a pop-up that says I have attempted to establish a connection with images.rootsweb.ancestry.com and the security certificate presented is for images.rootsweb.com. Is this what you're seeing as well, or are you getting a different warning? -Marie
Paul- These are old posts that someone replied to currently bringing an old thread to the top on my boards (which is the reason they caught my attention). And, yes, I think this is some sort of issue with a default date being set on these posts because the actual date couldn't be found. I saw about 10 of them this morning when reviewing my boards and the first few were also old "Anonymous" posts but the latter few had usernames attached. I don't think the issue of board posts could possibly involve a battery issue on the poster's computer as the boards use GMT and set the post time on their end--it wouldn't have any connection to the person's computer time being off. Joan.. I am sorry, trying to do too many things at once. My dates are fine. I was looking at threads were the original post was in 1999 and 2000. Silly silly me. The posts made to the threads today are right. Is anyone else seeing posts on their boards showing a post date of January 1900? At first I thought they were all connected to the "anonymous poster" bug but I'm seeing them also on posts where the poster is correctly identified. I haven't yet reported the problem -- first I'm checking here to see how widespread the problem is. Joan
Judy- Are you actually seeing a certificate notice on MyAccount that says the certificate has expired? I don't--but if I force the "rootsweb.ancestry.com" URL rather than the correct rootsweb.com URL when accessing MyAccount I Do get a certificate notice that says the certificate is current and valid but the domain name doesn't match--which would be accurate. Try just https://myaccount.rootsweb.com/ and see if you get the certificate notice--also pay close attention to what the notice is saying if you DO get it. I only see the notice if I try to put "rootsweb.ancestry.com" in the URL and not just "rootsweb.com" and in that case the notice says the certificate is valid but was issued in a different name than the name of the domain I'm trying to access because it is in the name of RootsWeb.com and not "Rootsweb.ancestry.com."
