    2. Denise Wells via
    3. PLEASE FORWARD TO YOUR STATE AND REGIONAL LISTS Please feel free to contact one of your regional reps and provide them with items that you would like to see addressed by the Board so we can get them on the agenda. Please include anything that has been previously discussed so we can get those items properly onto the agenda for discussion and/or completion. Your current Board Members are listed here. http://www.usgenweb.org/about/advisoryboard.shtml Advise them as in an email of your concerns that you would like to see discussed and completed. Those regional reps will bring those items forward. We will assign them priorities for the Agenda and get these items addressed and in discussion. Please formulate statements regarding our earlier conversations about the mail list issues discussed earlier this year, issues about the Special Projects, or any other items you would like to see discussed and/or revised. I need your help to move these things onto the Agenda and forward. 3. Denise the first email that I received in response to this asks: What ever happened to using the ALL list for communications from the AB and NC? No more of this forwarding email to every list and for those of us in more than one state, ending up with multiple copies. 3. Denise I now have a second item that was ask to be added: It is my opinion that if the Regional Reps held a minimum of a quarterly roll call it would go a long way towards preventing situation like have occurred in Minnesota and South Carolina where SC's and ASC's dropped off the radar for several years before anything was done. Therefore I would like to see the addition of a Quarterly Roll Call conducted by each Regional SC Rep for the SC's and ASC's in their region. Would you please place this on the AB Agenda for discussion and vote? 3. So far we have only received two items for the agenda, which Les has forwarded. Pat Asher has also posted the question about using the EC list. I'm still hoping more items come in so we have several to place on the agenda and assign priorities. I would definitely like to see something about the responsibilities of state coordinators and their need, in my humble opinion, of monitoring the CCs in their states and the CC responsibility for updating their sites so that they are not left to malinger over a period of time. We are quickly approaching 2016, our 20th anniversary, and it is a shame to see counties and ultimately states in such sad shape. I see my job as an SC as being responsible for how my CCs are doing. It isn't necessary to drive them crazy but to try to motivate them and set some state requirements about updating counties, etc. Is anyone willing to step into that? What else? Help me help USGW! And thank you to Les for submitting two items! 3. The PAGenWeb has received comments which I need to put together and forward. We were asked not to forward the email but rather extract the comments. I am in catch up mode. I came home from a business trip to Warsaw last week-end with pneumonia and finally starting to feel better. I will get it out today. ~ Nancy ,`. ,'`. : | \/ / | _.. ,--.._ | ' : ;.' ) \ ._ `: | ,' ,' / `._ ` \ .;../ _..'.._ _..-`-.._::::::.' -.. `. ,' _.. ::SSt::-.._ __..' `..___..-''`;:::;' `. ,' , ,' |` `:. `. `. | ' ,/ , ; \`.._,' `..-'/ / / \ \ : \__,' `.__; -----Original Message----- From: board-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:board-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Denise Wells via Sent: Monday, May 25, 2015 11:47 AM To: Les Shockey Cc: Board Subject: Re: [BOARD] Agenda Items [PLEASE FORWARD TO ALL LISTS] So far we have only received two items for the agenda, which Les has forwarded. 3. PAGenWeb Submission 1. Address the unnecessary sniping and disrespect on some of the lists. 2. GenWeb members could web-mentor middle or HS students interested in history/family trees? Create a page and make a public campaign to interest younger folks? How do we pass on our knowledge and websites before we "pass on" The "campaign" should be prominent on the USGenWeb's front page and posted on Facebook and other social media websites. 3. SPECIAL PROJECTS: Why can't Special Projects combine with existing webs, giving one site more content under an experienced webmaster (the Special Projects)? Plus, the Special Projects seem much removed from everything else in the USGenWeb. Why have them, then? 4. ELECTIONS: Why do we have to use a multi-step process to say yea or nay on ONE thing. PLUS in campaigns, there is no central place to get info. Candidates should ALL write 3-5 lines of intro with URL for more info, then, send it as ONE email to ALL lists. Posting it on US failed at least a couple times. Then, we're left to search the internet for candidate pages posted where-ever (like on their own website). 3. I have received another one. It reads: "I am a county coordinator in two states. In one state we hear from the state coordinator at every couple of months, she is supportive of ideas, responds to any questions/comments I have quickly and forwards on any national business that the CCs need to hear about as well as anything of interest in that state. The other state is the exact opposite. No response to emails, no roll call, no support, no forwarding of national business, no checking in on how things are going, no local business. With that in mind I would like to see SCs responsible for taking roll call of CCs at least quarterly, that they respond to email fairly quickly (within two weeks for instance?), that they update and take care of the state site (quarterly or more often if there are any changes), that they make it clear which counties are available for adoption with clear instructions on the requirements for adoption and who to contact. I also think it would be a good idea to have a term for all SCs if there is not one already, perhaps two years."
