The PAGenWeb submission was from one of our members, below are my comments. 1. Address the unnecessary sniping and disrespect on some of the lists. a. there are sniping experts out there and it is what they do. b. Have a monthly "Wall of Shame" list any name that crosses the line as determined by 3 complaints from membership 2. GenWeb members could web-mentor middle or HS students interested in history/family trees? Create a page and make a public campaign to interest younger folks? How do we pass on our knowledge and websites before we "pass on"? The "campaign" should be prominent on the USGenWeb's front page and posted on Facebook and other social media websites. a. It is the nature of things that most young people are not interested in family history, and I feel that most of us can appreciate the number of times we have said "I wish I would have had more interest and asked more questions of Grandma" b. We could have an "Ask Grandma" slogan, with a reason why you would do that. What Facebook page would you post this to that a teenager is already visiting, how many teenager's visit the USGenWeb home page? c. We certainly could have some kind of link on the USGenWeb home page to a website for those who are doing family history assignments and how to get started and it starts with talking to Grandma. d. Keeping in the forefront - not everyone's parents are genetically related, let alone grandparents. The family structure is not what it was, genealogy is going to evolve. You can't search a Petri dish but you can have DNA tests so you have some sense of heritage. 3. SPECIAL PROJECTS: Why can't Special Projects combine with existing webs, giving one site more content under an experienced webmaster (the Special Projects)? Plus, the Special Projects seem much removed from everything else in the USGenWeb. Why have them, then? a. I really do not know anything about Special Projects b. Hence, maybe we should promote them more amongst ourselves c. Special Project of the moment on the Home page of our State Sites and rotate every few months. 4. ELECTIONS: Why do we have to use a multi-step process to say yea or nay on ONE thing. PLUS in campaigns, there is no central place to get info. Candidates should ALL write 3-5 lines of intro with URL for more info, then, send it as ONE email to ALL lists. Posting it on US failed at least a couple times. Then, we're left to search the internet for candidate pages posted where-ever (like on their own website). a. I personally never had an issue with the elections. b. In government elections you have to go look for candidate information, there is no central repository. c. I thought I saw candidate pages off of our election page. I would like to see these two items put on the Agenda for each quarter. I can't remember the last time we received the report from the GC.
