David I fail to understand how you can accuse Sherri of setting on any messages. Are you the only AB member who is permitted to have email or computer problems? You stated earlier this afternoon: "And it's not first time I didn't get any from the Board itself. 2nd time in 2 weeks. First one was Motion 2009/10-27 to the Board by Sherri and a subscriber notified me few hours later it had been on the Board. I had to go all the way to the archived Board message site to find it. " If you found a message in the archives that you did not receive, is that not proof that the email system can fail at times and messages do not arrive as they should? You also offered to withdraw your motion but attached conditions to the withdrawal. As I pointed out privately Sturgis does not show where conditions can be made regarding withdrawal of a motion. Sturgis also requires that we address other members of the Board with respect. Les W David Samuelsen wrote: > You can NOT vote on a motion that does not exist. > > Here is why. > > Sherri KNEW! My apologies to all of you - as I've stated more than once, I've still got issues with my internet access and email. David, I find nothing in Sturgis that refers to allowing a motion to be withdrawn with conditions applied to that withdrawal. Unless you can provide a reference that would allow that conditions to be applied to the withdrawal of a motion, the conditions that you are attempting to apply to the withdrawal of this motion will not be recognized. It is your choice now if you want to withdraw the motion without conditions or if you want to carry it through to a vote. This is what I told Les when he asked me much earlier. "You're correct, it is not in Sturgis but it is in Roberts. Guess I was more accustomed to Roberts." It is withdrawn anyway. David, I can find nothing in Sturgis that permits placing reservations or conditions on the withdrawal of a motion. Also, as far as I can determine, the sending of private email to other Board members does not constitute a motion to the Board. Any formal motion needs to be sent to the proper Board email list. Assuming something is happening is never a good policy. I believe that Sherri has mentioned the problems with her new computer sufficiently in the past few days that all AB members should have been aware of the problems it was causing with her email. Point of Order. A motion to withdraw must be made by the person who made the original motion. (Sturgis page 94.) David, Did you not see Sherri's post about 2 hours ago that she was having e-mail problems? I don't think she is deliberately sitting on anything. We all know how quirky email can be and we also know how erratic Rootsweb can be with sending things through the mailing lists.
