    1. Blosser name on 1933 Quilt - Bantry, ND (McHenry County)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YWE.2ACIB/178 Message Board Post: The Blosser name (along with many others) appears on a quilt created in 1933 in Bantry, ND (McHenry County). We purchased the quilt in Denver, CO in July of 2006. My wife and I have done some preliminary research on these names and are including information we have found for specific people associated with the making of this quilt. Below, we are listing those names and those immediate family members names who were alive in Bantry, North Dakota in 1930. We are attempting to assemble a complete history of the women who worked on this quilt, where they came from, their family’s story, where they ended up, when they died. We are hoping to eventually find photos of the women who made each block. This will require finding surviving family members who still have those photos and their contact information. We feel it is important for this quilt to have its history told. It is in excellent condition and deserves to have it history shared, especially with the descendants of the women who made the quilt. This is a huge undertaking, but we have decided that it is worth the effort. Any help with this history gathering would be greatly appreciated. List of names: • Quilt Block number • Name as it appears on the quilt • Associated info on these people 20. Mrs. K. W. Blosser - Mattie E? Blosser b.1889 - K.W.Blosser b.1880 (brother) Larry J? or F? Blosser b.1883 Please post any information you have at this site AND contact us directly. That way we can share the history as it unfolds here with others who may be looking for their history. Thank you. matt & melinda wood matt@mattwood.net

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YWE.2ACIB/175 Message Board Post: Hello: I am researching the Betts family & found that John Betts married Susie Blosser on 5 Jan 1882 in Rice County MN-according to his Civil War Pension records. In the 1880 census Susan Blosser 24-single was in DesMoines IA (a large Betts family-cousins of John-was there). She was a servant in a hotel kept by Able & Matilda Pearson...a boarder in that hotel was John Betts 36---likely the man she marrired. A Pension file reference was made to Tama IA which leads me to wonder if Susie was possibly the SarahA found in census with Isaac & Mary Blosser (5 in 1860-15 in 1870); mine was 24 in 1880; but per 1900 Susan "Betz" was born Oct 1861(IA). John died in 1906 -- I did not find a death for her. DO YOU have further information about your Sarah...with what I have provided, could she also be my Susan? Thank you for any help you can provide. I had never heard of the name before but just discovered a great great great uncle of my husband had Blosser as a middle name - making me think perhaps there was a connection with the two families. She was 24 years, 5 months, and 15 [?] days old when she died on 10 October 1918. Her occupation was Housewife. She was born in Bridgewater, Virginia, to Samuel Blosser and Frances Blosser. Both of them were born in Rockingham County, Virginia. Dr. L. J. Marshull [?] of Dayton, Virginia, wrote that she died of "Spanish influenza complicated by childbirth and acute nephritis." She was buried on 11 October 1918 at Fairview by B. B. Shiflett of Harrisonburg, Virginia. The death record was filed in Central District ["Ashby" crossed out], Rockingham County. The name of the informant is L. J. Marshull (Virginia Bureau of Vital Statistics Reel 74, Certificate 424-36896). I am not related to this family. I have recently found a receipt issued by Jacob Blosser (born March 1829 in VA) in Ross County, OH. He was a miller and the date of the receipt is July 20, 1901. Anyway, I am offering this to any of you in his line who may be interested in having it. My husband's line is a different one. This Jacob was the son of Joseph and Sarah Blosser, both also born in VA. Probably from the Peter Blosser line out of PA. I think this receipt belongs to other Blossers!
