    1. [BLOCKER] Daniel Blocker
    2. My husband's father was Daniel James Blocker b: 19 Dec. 1918 in Deland, Florida. His father was Daniel James Blocker b: 13 Oct. 1873 in Starke, Fl. His father was Daniel Blocker b: about 1834 in SC. My husband's father was very interested in his family history and tried to find his earliest family roots. A Blocker relative in Ohio recently received an email from another Blocker relative in California. The relative in Calif. had uncovered the following little blurb: "Who's Who in the South" from 1927 has an entry for Daniel James Blocker. That's not the surprise. What is, though, is this mention in the entry: "Genealogy: Paternal Desc., Field Marshall Blucher, Comdr., Prussian forces at Battle of Waterloo."***end of quoted blurb*** I am surprised because my husband's grandfather never related any stories to him about being related to Field Marshall Blucher. In turn my husband's father never mentioned anything about being related to Field Marshall Blucher. The thing I find the hardest to believe is why would my father-in-law search his whole life for his family roots if he knew that he could begin his family history with Field Marshall Blucher? A further search on ancestry.com shows Field Marshall Blucher showing up on a lot of Blocker family trees. I've found on ancestry that one person will add somebody like Field Marshall Blucher on their family tree without verifying or documenting the information and in turn everybody will just copy the information that wasn't verified into their family trees. I would love to verify that Field Marshall Blucher was related to my husband's family and be able to take his family tree from Field Marshall Blucher to the current day Blocker family. Does anyone reading this query have Field Marshall Blucher in their family tree and do you have documentation to verify this? Or more importantly does anybody have any of the Daniel Blockers mentioned above in their family tree? I haven't a clue how Who's Who gets their information. I'm wondering if they research facts and the ancestry about the people they are writing about or if they just include family lore in their blurbs about the people they are writing about. I would love to hear from anybody that can shed some light on this mystery for me. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide me.
