Whether or not they are related to your Catherine Blessington, I don't know. I have Myles Blessington, born 1812, in Leitrim, Ireland, who was the son of Patrick Blessington and Alice Cremer. Myles had at least one sibling, a sister, Winifred Blessington, also born in Ireland. Myles married Bridget Durkin, born 1829. In 1851, Myles and Bridget were living as lodgers with Winifred and her husband ,Peter Curren, in Dirleton, Haddingtonshire, East Lothian. They were credited with 2 children, Mary and Alice, both born in Ireland, and said on the cencus to be "at home, Ireland" The interesting thing here is that Miles and Bridget were then known as Mulvannerty (wrongly transcribed as McVannachtie)I gather this is an alternative Irish version of the name Blessington. On the 1861 cencus, their name had become Blest, and they had 2 more children, born in Haddingtonshire, registered as Blest. The youngest child, John Blest, born 1855, married Margaret Dolan in 1883, and on the marriage certificate he had reverted back to the name Blessington If any of these names mean anything to you, I would be very interested.Tracing any Irish ancestors is so difficult, and it would be great to find someone who had other branches of our tree.
