    3. Graham Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. My branch of Blaxalls descends from Lewin Jeremiah and Marianne Blaxall (nee Wolton). They had 5 children, all of whom seem to have prospered, according to family legend largely because of the redoubtable Marianne, Lewin Jeremiah having died at age 34. Lewin Jeremiah was the youngest son (and ninth child) of Simon and Mary Blaxall, whose occupation was "keeping the public house" in Eyke, Suffolk. An older brother had been named Lewin, but he died at age 2, and I suppose they wanted to use the name again but make a distinction by calling him Lewin Jeremiah. Marianne's family, the Woltons, were apparently of better social standing - I have papers dating from the late 1800s when the family was trying (unsuccessfully in the end) to show the Woltons (and therefore the Blaxalls) had a rightful claim on some assets in Chancery from the estate of a noble family named Naunton. Lewin Jeremiah and Marianne's first born, Lewin Jeremiah jr (born 1823) did not marry. I am not sure of the sequence of the other four. Francis (always referred to as Frank) was born in 1826, he married Malvina McHardy, but had no children - he became a naval surgeon, and retired to Bath, where he died in 1904. Arthur may have been next - he married Elizabeth Brown and had 5 children. He moved to London and was a successful grocer, I think in partnership with Thomas (see below). His grandson, the Rev Arthur Blaxall, was well known for starting a school for the blind in South Africa, and was eventually deported by the South African government in the late stages of the Apartheid regime. Then we come to Eliza, for whom I have no birth date, but I know she married William Mustard in 1851 and died in 1915. She appears to be named after Eliza Blaxall, one of Lewin Jeremiah's older sisters, who was born in 1790 and died in 1828. I'll come back to Eliza in a moment. The last born, in early 1832 a few months after Lewin Jeremiah's death, was Thomas, my great grandfather. He married Emaretta Hubbard, and became a successful grocer and vintner in central London, I believe in partnership with his older brother Arthur, and he lived to the ripe old age of 91. Thomas had four sons and one daughter - two of the sons were killed during the First World War, the daughter and one other son had no children, but the fourth son was my grandfather Frank Blaxall, who became a doctor and medical researcher. William Mustard and Eliza had four children, Frank, Arthur, Mary and Maud. I don't know much about the first three, except that Frank married Olive Tapley, and had six children (Frank, Cecil, Gretta, Doris, Aubrey and Arthur). I know even less about Arthur and Mary except that Mary married Percy Leather - not sure whether either of them had children. Maud I know a bit more about, because she was a favorite aunt of my father and his two siblings. She married Charles Hayward, a farmer, and had two children, Ronald and Norah Hayward, with whom my parents' generation kept in regular touch, and whom they regarded as close relatives (technically I believe they were second cousins). Ronald married Gwen Harrison (and later divorced) - they had one son, Guy Hayward, with whom I am in occasional contact - he has no children. Norah married Henry Roberts, and they also have one son, Sean Roberts. I am not in touch with Sean, but some of my cousins are - I am not sure if he has any children. That about exhausts my knowledge of the Blaxall-Mustard connection. I hope it's of some use to you.
