Hi all Blankenship researchers, I am writing to the post today, fill with sadness and a heavy heart. I received a phone call today from my mother, Stella G. Rigney Blankenship, informing me that my uncle had passed away this morning in the Bedford Memorial Hospital. The cause of death was heart problems. One doctor we talked to said he heart just stopped beating. I am number 47 on the list below and my uncle is number 29 on this list. One good thing out of all of this is the other 4 family menders said it was OK now to post the complete Blankenship chart as I have it on my computer. They was to get help finding any lost cousins. I will be away from the computer for a few day, (only check my e-mail). John Walter and Cammie never had children, when Walter was older his sister Mary Maude moved in with him to take care of him and his house. Because of this he left his land and house to Mary Maude. After Walter died Mary Maude moved to Roanoke and ran a boarding house. Gladice Maxey, a good friend and neighbor of Mary Maude's took care of her when she got older and Mary Maude left Walter's farm to Gladice Maxey and her son Donnie Maxey. Jessie Mose was working with the Telephone Co. guys installing the first telephone for Franklin Co. and Bedford Co. when some how he got some of the tiny wire in his throat and swollowed it. The wire caused an infection that when into gang green and he died. This researcher had been told by family member and neighbors of the family that Jessie Mose was carried to Franklin Co. Hospital on the back of a wagon and you could hear his moaning for miles. Franklin Co. hospital send him to Roanoke to the Jefferson Hospital where he died. Jessie Mose died two months before his youngest child was born, Doc Buford Blankenship. He was 51 at the time of his death. 2. Jessie died without a will, his widow Ms. Susie Myrtle Divers Blankenship, was admenistrator (spelling from the court papers} of his estate. She listed his hiers in the papers she filled with Bedford Court Court, Will book 30, page 387 and will book 30 page 463. 3. This researcher has been told that Jessie could make some of the best Apple Brandy. Notes for Susie Myrtle Divers: 1. After the death of her husband, Jessie Mose, she was left with all the children to raise and no other close kin. She put the youngest children in the Old Fellows Home in Lynchburg, Virginia. Jessie Malcolm and Maurice Wray were too old to be admitted to the home. They stayed on the farm with their mother, Ms Susie, she was then called that by all that knew her. 2. Ms Susie when to William burg later to become a nurse at the Williamburg Hospital. 3. She did visit the children and check on their well being. She tried to be a loving mother to the children, and still work and make money for them. 4. After Ms Susie retired from nursing she moved to Roanoke, Virginia and lived with her son Herbert Hoover Blankenship until her death.
