His parents were David 1773-1815 and Susanna Stringer Blankenship 1778-1804. Siblings were James, and Nancy m. 1. Enoch Ellington 2. ? Brooks. John Spencer m. Mahala Anne Caldwell and had the following children: Augustus J., John L., James A., Marcus D., Martha A., William G., Sarah Ann Elizabeth, and Monemia Clementina. Mahala Caldwell Blankenship died in 1854 and John Spencer m. Mrs. Elizabeth Ball Westbrook. They had two children, Robert, and John Henry.
