    3. Jacque, A person in Arizona was going to marry a Native American woman and asked his doctor if their children would inherit a tendency to diabetes and other problems that he saw in the Native American population. The doctor explained that their children would be genetically superior to both parents because they would have the strongest genes of both sides. I have remembered that and notice that so many of the people I meet who are multi-racial or multi-ethnic really seem to be stronger, healthier and even brighter than average. I think we have all learned a lot about diversity in this country. It's too bad our ancestors had to live with such bias. I am reading a wonderful book called "Creek Mary's Blood" (1980) by Dee Brown who also wrote "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee." The book takes place at the time of the Revolution and the War of 1812. The Cherokee and Creek Indian characters show a strength and integrity that we all want in our ancestors. Maybe that's why we all hope to identify with them. And maybe I want to explain my straight dark hair when my 6 brothers and sisters all have curly hair! Pat
