    2. Pat, Joshua Blankenship, Abraham's son is sometimes listed as being born in Rutherford, NC. and Chesterfield Co., W. Va. Nancy Godsey his mother was born in Rockingham, NC. Abraham is listed as Chesterfield Co., Va.. Joshua's older brother has the same problem with birth place. My guess is Abraham's family moved to NC. from Va. and Abraham moved back to Va. with his own family later. It gets really confusing doesn't if you try to think this out. Your guess is the best I've had. Some say Abraham's father is Elam Blankenship. I think my family is in the witness protection also. I can't tie mine into anyone's, not even Ralph's which he seems to have lots of offspring. But you know if people quit giving info no one is going to get anywhere. Thank you for your help. Look out Southern Indiana here I come. Magness, huh? Never would have thought of looking for that name. Thanks again. Dorothy H.

    3. I am searching for any information on Marcellus Jordan Blankenship. Tradition has it that the family was from Chesterfield County, VA, but I have been able to find him only on a census record once. We don't know who his father was but one of his children was named Charles Elam, so I think there is a connection there to the Martha Elam who married a Blankenship. We know he was a miller, that the family moved and moved and moved around--Virginia and Tennesee that we know of for sure--that they once lived in Tampico, Grainger County, Tennessee, and that he drowned in Llynchburg, Virginia. Does anyone have anything that might give us a clue? Thanks.
