Misty, Letters of Administration give the administrator or executor of an estate the "power" to handle the decdent's property - whether that be transferring title, selling it, etc. A bond is not always required in a probate matter - basically the person named in the Will as executor or administrator will appear in court at a time when an application for probate is filed, swear an oath that they will execute their duties faithfully, and the clerk then issues the letters of administration or letters testamentary ... I think the terms used sometimes vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction as do the titles of court - for instance, in Texas, probate matters are always handled in the Probate Court which is one of our County Courts at Law designated to handle probate matters. I know in some areas, probate matters are handled ina "Superior" court ... Kay
