    2. Hey researchers, I ran across this and while John in not in my direct line of Blankenship's, I thought some of you could use this information. This is the will of John Cape that mentions John Blankenship, as grandson, in his will. It is not that often in research work that I find a mother's name, Jane Cape Blankenship, and a grandfather's name, John Cape, all in one place. I hope this helps some of you with you direct line of Blankenship's. Maybe Kay can add this one to her file of Wills and Deeds for the Blankenship family. Sue John Cape volunteered early in 1776 served several tours as Pvt. under Capt. Param Booker and Col. Lynch in the VA troops. Commissioned Lieutenant in 1778 and served on various tours, a part of the time under Capt. James Martin and Col. Crockett in VA troops and was at the surrender of Cornwallis in 1781. Pension allowed for service as a Lieutenant for 2 years. National No. 401406 Russell County, KY Will Book 1 - Page 149. Will of John Cape. I, John Cape of Russell County and Sate of Kentucky being aged and infirm of the bodily strength But of disposing mind and memory and full anxious to dispose of the little estate which I possess I do hereby make and publish this as my last will & testament hereby revoking all others or codicels heretofore made by me and do Declare this and this only to be my last will & testament. 1st my will is that my just debts be paid if any I owe, but at this time I do not recollect that I owe any. and that my funeral and burial be paid and all the estate that I leave at my death either real or personal or mixed money or debts owing or coming to me in any way whatsoever, I will and bequeth to my grandson John Blankinship, son of my deceased daughter Jenny. I am induced to devise my property to my said grandson in perference to my other relation because of his taking care of myself and wife for many years and of my wife until her death and of myself since.
