Tammy, I have checked the Cherokee home pages and read many books on how to research Cherokees, but the problem is that my people left the home in N.C. in about 1806. There are no records listed that pertain to that early time period. I bought a disk of the 1880 Cherokee Nation Census, even though I knew it wouldn't contain my family. I just thought I might find where someone had given information that would be a clue for me. I find many names that look promising, but there is no way to tie into anything. When my ancestor traveled to Oklahoma in the 1830s, she left from a farm in Indiana, not a reservation. It looks like we are making progress, though. Some people on this list are making connections!
