Glad to finally meet some more Alabama Blankenships. I was beginning to think they had all disappeared. We live in Arkansas, and there are lots of Blankenship descendants here. 3. Hi, Patricia, I have not done much of my own Blankenship research. Most of what I have I have gotten from others. My information is that John Buck Blankenship's wife, Millie Thompson was Cherokee, from the Long Hair Clan. She was not "full-blooded", but she was mostly Cherokee. Her ggggrandfather was a Scotsman named Ludovic K. Grant. He was married to Elizabeth Tassel, a Cherokee. Millie had two sisters, Mourning and Jane, who lived with Millie and John B.Blankenship and took the Blankenship name. Millie's ggrandmother, Susannah Emory, was also the grandmother of Reverend Jesse Bushyhead. I read somewhere that Fields and Thompson were both common Melungeon names and I have wondered about a possible Melungeon connection as well. Millie Thompson's mother was Martha Fields. If anyone knows any more about this branch of the Blankenship tree, I would love to hear from you. 3. Patricia, Thanks for the link. I am in the process of putting all of my information on the computer and when I do I will be happy to share what I have. As I said before, I do not make any claims that it is all correct as I have not had time to research this line myself. The majority of what I have was given to me by others. You are welcome to it, though. I will send it to you when I have time to sit down and put it all into my FTM files.
