Sue: Your latest information from LDS on Edmund could be a link. This Edmund being born ca 1791 would be old enough to be in Madison County,Al in 1808 (though very young). However, I found papers in Courthouse in Bedford, Va of a judgment against Edmund for cheating in the swap of a house. Whether a 17 year old would be involved in swap of a house, I doubt.
