Fitzgerald was born to JAMES AND DORA BLANKENSHIP in Louisiana. She was the oldest of 8 children and helped with her brothers and sisters, and she lived on a farm as child. She moved to California in 1935, and she resided in Bakersfield since 1946, where she worked as a nurses aide from 1960 1972 at Manor Inn. She loved helping her patients. She also worked as a welder during the war. She worked at a bakery. Her grandfather was a doctor and grandmother was a nurse. She had an uncle who was a Baptist preacher. She lived during the great depression and World War II. She was a Christian woman. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Demetrice Boone and Dione Middleton of Bakersfield, and Deloise Harris of Oakhurst. Her 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grand-children. She was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother. She always put her family first and was always helping her grandchildren in someway or another. Ivory was loved by all that knew her and she will always hold a special place in our hearts. You will be missed dearly and we will cherish all the memories.
