Hi Well until recently I had that Isham sr went to TN but while I haven't seen the data support for that I am certain the person who sent me the info is a good researcher. Also seems the Isham jr that you have thought was the William that went to TN and the son William that moved to IN is most likely correct. Your court documents would be of interest to Jim and Karen on the BLANKENSHIP-L as he is compiling the documentation on all the Blankenships. I can send you a file that Don Blankenship sent me of the raw data on Isham Blankenship I have Isham jr as died in Monroe TN Dec. 5 1836 The Col. Leslie Book has William son of Isham sr as comeing to In-Il but he wasn't correct, there later research shows him returning after a year it Virginia later to Kentucky. I had found where some one had him dieing in 1836 also, but another had 1842, but I haven't found any support data for eithier. He made a documention for pension in june of 1836 saying he had previously lived there 30 years. Seems we come up on more info all the time and perhaps we'll get it stright. I'll send this to the Blankenship group and see what the respond with. Thanks for the information on Isham Jr. I am most struck by the statement that he died before Dec. 1836 and his son William was already deceased. My gggrandfather William Blankenship died 7 Dec. 1836 and I have court documents to prove this. I have long thought that Isham Jr. was my William's father, but haven't been able to prove it. This William was born in NC 1789 and moved to Indiana in the early 1800's. Do you have an opinion regarding Isham and this William? I started out with the Col's book also and the best advice I received was to put it down and do my own research. He has a lot of good information and made a wonderful contribution to the Blankenships. But he did get the Ishams confused. Isham Sr. There is no will for Isham so no record of his children. Several researchers (Julia Gougler and Gayle Blankenship among others - and I agree from looking at records) put together a possible family from census, deed records. and the move from Franklin VA to Rutherford NC. Isham Sr died in Rutherford about 1805 and is buried on Cane Creek. Someone, and I believe it was Harold Rollins, told me he had seen the grave a long time ago. Wife Sarah appears to have died before 1810 as well. Possible children of Sr. are: Robert Hezekiah; Isham Jr; Elisha; William; Elijah; Zachariah; Presley; Barnett; Rhoda m. John Blankenship probably son of Peter. There is also Elizabeth who married Jess Dillion who might be a child and Smith and perhaps Jesse. Isham JR. is a bit easier - Was in Blount Co. TN by 1800 - he died before Dec 1836 and there is a court record in Monroe Co. TN of the estate listing his heirs: Spencer; Gilbert; John; Betsy Watson wife of John; Polly Farmer wife of Elijah; Sally wife of William Adams, William - deceased; Barnett - deceased. I have a note but no proof that he also had a son Isham. I know there is another Isham floating around. I have not been involved with him as Zachariah is my husband's ancestor and I got involved with that family because of that. Not going to Florida - to Salt Lake City. Betty
