Blankenship Alton S. Blankenship, 89, of Marshall passed away at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday evening, October 15 in Union Hospital at Terre Haute, IN. He was a retired farmer and had served as the Anderson Township Road Commissioner for 20 years prior to his retirement. He was born September 11, 1907 at Thompkinsville, KY, the son of Smith Blankenship and Jahiner Farley Blankenship. He married Kathryn Bradford on January 2, 1929 at Chrisman,Il. Surviving are his wife, Kathryn, a son. Chuck Blankenship of Marshall; a son and daughter-in-law, Sonny and Brenda Blankenship of Martinsville; five daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Lloyd Gamer, Ruby and Ralph Paulsen, Alberta and Robert Siverly, Shirley and Emery Shumaker and Dona and John 0. Sanders all of Marshall; a sister, Eddie Earl Rouse of Indianapolis, IN; 20 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, 2 sisters, 1 granddaughter and 1 great granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Pearce Funeral Home with Brother Brian Fuller and Brother Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will be in the Marshal Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall Baptist Church.
