Anne: John's will may help for documentation. John Blankinship¹s Will In the name of God, amen, I, John Blankinship, of Chesterfield County, calling to mind the family of this life, but being in parfitt memory, thanks to be God, do ordain this to be my last will and testament, in manner and form following vis. I give my soul to God that in hope of his acceptance thereof, through the merits of Christ my Savior and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried by the description of my executors. Item: I give and bequeath to my son, William, one hundred and twenty acres of land, the plantation he now lives on, lying in the corner adjoining Gilbert Ealom and Thomas Moore to him his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my three sons, Isham, Hudson, and Henry, three hundred and seventy two aces to be equally divided among them as they can agree, each son having his land from the creek to the back line to them and to their heirs forever, it lying on the main Deep Creek. Item: I give and bequeath to my two youngest sons, Norvel and Mathew, the land I now live on containing tow hundred acres more or less to be equally divided betwixt them, only my son, Mathew to have the plantation part, to them and to their heirs forever. My will is that in case either of my two youngest sons, Norvel and Mathew, should die without heir lawfully begotten them, the surviving brother shall have his part of the land. My will is that in case either of my sons, William, Isham, and Joseph, Hudson, and Henry should die without heirs lawfully begotten, that this part of the land should be equally divided among my above named sons. Item: I give to my daughter, Amy Turner, five shillings of Curt money. Item: I give to my daughter, Elizabeth Marrisett, five shillings of Curt money. Item: I give and bequeath to my loving wife, Elizabeth, the one half of my personal estate to her and to be at her own disposal, the remainder part of my estate not given away to be equally divided betwixt Joseph, Hudson, Henry Norvel, Martha (he must mean Mathew).
