Pocohontas married John Rolfe three or four years after John Smith returned to England with injuries. Rolfe's work with the Indian tobacco provided the foundation for the financial of the Virginia Colony. Pocohontas and Rolfe had one son, Thomas. The three visited England when Thomas was still very young. She died in England and her son was raised there by his father's family. He returned to Virginia as a young man and inherit lands left to him by his parents. His father, John Rolfe, was thought to have been killed earlier in the Great Massacre of 1622 in Virginia.
