Archibald Blankenship (b. ca. 1798, d. ca. 1860) came to the Capuchin Creek area bordering Campbell & Scott Counties, having reportedly married Sarah Richardson ca. 1817 in Ashe Co, NC. Archibald was the progenitor of the name throughout the Campbell and Scott County, TN area by way of his sons William, Canada, & Daniel, as well as by daughter Camilla's illegitimate son Ewell, who took the name Blankenship. A report of his descendants can be found on my website (link below). Once on the website, click on "Book: Link to John's Genealogy Reports," then on "Contents," then on "Register Report of Archibald Blankenship." Archibald has been listed as being the son of Arthur M. Blankenship of Lee Co, VA (b. ca. 1770, d. ca. 1863), however this is in doubt, as evidence has been uncovered showing that there were perhaps two different Archibald Blankenships. Also, there was no Archibald included in the settlement of Arthur M's estate. The possibility exists that he was an illegitimate child of Arthur M, and/or perhaps was adopted out. I would greatly appreciate any info that anyone might have on the ancestry of Archibald Blankenship of Capuchin Creek, Scott Co, TN. Thanks! John John C.
