    1. [BLANKENSHIP] Alabama Blankenships
    2. Thanks Kay, Irma, and everyone who has responded to my query about Lavinia. Several have referenced the marriage of an Edmund Blankenship and a Sarah Cargile in 1822 Bibb County and have speculated that they are the parents of Lavinia. Here is what I have on this Edmund and Sarah: "May 5, 1848 Petition to sell land of Thomas Cargile, dec'd. He left three children, Micajah Cargile, Macon Co. AL, Sarah, wife of Edmund Blankenship ......." "Book 5, pg 96. 27 Jan. 1852 Sarah Blankenship died intestate, no person having appeared to apply, Letters of Administration are issued to David Ricketts, one of the principal creditors of said estate." "Book 5, pg 100. 22 Nov. 1855 List of heirs: Edmund Blankenship, the husband, and Colbert Blankenship, Demarius Blankenship, Nancy Blankenship, Nancy Robinson, the wife of J.C. Robinson,Daniel Blankenship, and Thomas Blankenship. Children of said Sarah Blankenship dec'd are all of full age. " All of the above are transcripts from Ganrud's series of Alabama Records. Also I see a marriage of an Edmund Blankenship to Mary Frances Hale 11 Mar 1852, Marshal Co. AL Since Lavinia was not named as a heir of Sarah, I doubt that these are the parents. In fact, I wonder if this Edmund is that Edmund who was son of Daniel. The "Edmund" that I have concentrated on is the "Edwin" shown on the 1830 Shelby Co. census. An Edmund patented 40 acres of land in Sec 12, Twsp 22S, Rng 1E in Shelby county on 7 Nov. 1837 If I read my maps correctly, this would have been on the banks of the Coosa River where "Shelby Shores" is presently located. I believe that this is the "E." Blankenship enumerated on the 1840 Shelby Co. census and who has a 70-80 year old male living with him ( Daniel ? ) I do not believe that this is the Edmund who married Sarah Cargile and removed to Marshal County. I will post the information that I have on the William Anderson Glasscock family in a separate message Thanks again for the responses. Ted & Joyce
