It appears to me that there are two Edmond/Edmund/Edwine Blankenships in central AL during the same period. 1830 Shelby Co. census 1840 Shelby Co. 1860 Talladega Edwine 20-30 E. 40-50 Edmond 56 Wife ? 20-30 Wife 30-40 Male 0-5 Male 5-10 Male 5-10 Male 10-15 Female 0-5 Female 10-15 Female 5-10 Female 15-20 Female 60-70 Male 70-80 In both the 1830 and 1840 census I see 2 sons and 2 daughters. In the 1852 Marshall County court records we have heirs of Sarah Cargile Blankenship as: Edmund (Husband) With FIVE children. Colbert, Demarius, Nancy, Daniel, and Thomas. All of the heirs were of full age. ( 21 males, 18 females ?) At any rate, all were born prior to 1834. Edmund Blankenship and Sarah Cargile were married in 1822 Bibb Co. so if all of the children were born in wedlock, they should have been born between 1822 and 1834 and should have appeared on either the 1830 or 1840 census. They do not. I believe that the Edmond who patented land in 1837 Shelby Co. is the Edwine and E. who appears on the 1830 and 1840 Shelby Co. census. He may or may not be the Edmond in the 1860 Talladega census with the Wm. Anderson Glasscock family. Since Wm. Anderson Glasscock's wife, Lavinia, is not listed as an heir of Sarah Cargile Blankenship, I think that we can definately rule them out as being the parents of Lavinia. Kay, I looked at Ancestry, as you suggested, and found 4 identical Gedcoms. They all show 4 children (Lavinia and the three children enumerated on the 1850 Marshal Co. census. The names do not match the 1852 list of heirs. I will contact the 4 submitters. Any help is of course greatly appreciated. Ted
