    1. [BLANKENSHIP] Blankenship puzzle
    2. Betty, Was talking to Arlene Nickell (nadadime@mkl.com) this morning trying to see if we could figure out who the people listed on the 1860 census were ... so now let me confuse you some more LOL. Isaac JONES m. Martha BLANKENSHIP (b. 1815) and had daughter, Mary E. JONES Mary Polly JONES (b. 1808) m. Lewis BLANKENSHIP (b. 1812) who is the brother of Martha (Blankenship) Jones. So, we have brother & sister marrying brother & sister - family lore has it in a double wedding but kinda' beside the point. Mary Polly (Jones) BLANKENSHIP has a son, Wiley B. Winton BLANKENSHIP who marries his first cousin - Mary E. JONES, d/o Isaac and Martha (Blankenship) JONES. So, okay, back then "kissin' cousins was fairly common ... Mary Polly and Lewis also have a daughter, Frances Elizabeth (b. 1842) who marries a James HOLDREN, date of birth and parents unknown. This makes Frances Elizabeth (Blankenship) HOLDREN 18 or 19 when the 1860 census is done - sooooooooooo could the 36-yr old James be James HOLDREN? And the 6-month old James B. be their son? And the 60-yr old Martha would be Martha (Blankenship) Jones (who we show b. 1815 but date could be wrong???) That would leave the question of who 17 year old Virginia A. is and as a BLANKENSHIP I have NO idea - but maybe she wasn't a Blankenship, maybe she was a Jones? Or another grandchild of Martha's or cousin of Frances who was staying to help with the baby or something and happened to be there when the census was taken? ARGHHHHHHHH - I'm so confused. Can I disown my Blankenship ancestors please? Kay

    3. In the 1860 census it should give a person's relationship to the 'head of the household'. Is this not listed for Martha (m-i-l)?? Virginia A. as (s-i-l)????
