The Blankensop (Blankinsop) family in Brooke Co. WV started with John (born 1814) and his brother Peter who came in 1825. They were glass blowers and settled in Wellsburg WV in 1827. As late as 1880 they used the spelling Blankensop/Blankinsop and Blankersop, and I believe they used it later as well ( I didn't make a notation as to the spelling when I read the 1910 census. Also I found the following: 1910 Grant Co. WV Lawson Bleukinsopp age 44 b. England = 1910 Cook Co. IL Richard Blenkinsopp age 23 b. England = 1910 Cook Co. IL Thomas H. Blenkinsop age 46 b. Canada = Mercer Co. IL 1910 Ellen Blenkinsopp 84 b. England = 1910 KS Crawford Co. James Blankensop age 45 b. England = 1910 Crawford Co. KS John Blenkinsap age 20 b. France. There probably are others - these are the ones I found.
