Hello, My Name is David Blankinsop. I have been trying to research my family name spelled Blankinsop. However, I have run in to many stumbling blocks. There are so many name variations out there; Blenkinsopp Blankinship Blankenship -But I cannot find anything on Blankinsop. Does anyone have any information on this variation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, David Blankinsop blankinsop@erols.com
Hi Sweetie, Raven Blankenship here, welcome to the family. You fall under the same family as those you listed. Their are about 20 different spellings I've seen so far. I remember when I first signed up on here some one saying our root name's fartherest tracking was to Ireland. Does anyone have that spelling. PLEASE SEND IT TO ME, PRETTY PLEASE. I have a friend with some old books. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Blankinsop" <blankinsop@erols.com> To: <BLANKENSHIP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 30, 2000 11:36 PM Subject: [BLANKENSHIP] Blankinsop Family > Hello, > > My Name is David Blankinsop. Hi David, the only reference to that spelling is from Ralph Blankensop or etc. He was the 1st Immigrant in this country, and all of our starting points. Also search Rootsweb.com and Ancestry.com for specific names you might have in your line. You are the first person on this list I have seen with his/her name spelled that way. There is still a lot of controversy on the subject, since record takers etc. were poor spellers...mostly they spelled names on how they sounded at the time. Several people on this list can help with many names, so if you could list your queries specifically, I'm sure they will help. Dates & Places of birth and spouses help immensely.
