I have her ONCE, in 1870, in Illinois, age 14. Not sure where she was in 1860; I know the kids were scattered after Polly Dempsey's death, and then once AJ remarried he tried to gather them back up (but didn't manage to get John B and James M, for whatever reasons) By 1880 she's again gone, BUT AJ and Sarah Jane have a grandson, James E. Hudgeons, age 4, living with them in Equality, Gallatine Co, Illinois. I SUSPECT that Hannah was the mother of James E. but so far have no proof. I have narrowed the father down to one of three first cousins, all of whom would be the right age and in the right place at the right time to father this child. Eventually, James E drops his birth name and takes the name "Blankenship". I don't know if AJB formally adopted him or not. By 1910, James E (now Blankenship) has moved to southern California with wife (Clara Organ) and 3 children. A 4th child was born in CA. James E is also in the 1920 census, but died in Oct. 1928. Clara, his widow, is in the 1930 census, with two of her children. James E is my great grandfather. Tracing him has been driving me just about crazy! <G> Martha

    3. It's spelled Iaeger on my map, with a capital I. I thought it was a lower case L I get so many queries with people who refuse to capitalize anything or use all upper case that when someone does it right, I overlook it.
