    3. Dorothy, You may have already done this, but I will venture a suggestion. You might start with Col. Leslie Blankenship's book. It is available at the larger research libraries and you might borrow it from your local (LDS) Family History Center. I would go through and find any families with a daughter named Elizabeth born about 1760. Chances are there were several Blankenship families in the same county -- there usually were -- and you just start charting them. I am not familiar with Warren County families. Lodowick and Mary Smith Blankenship had a daughter named Elizabeth born about that time. They were in Bedford, but perhaps they once lived in Warren. If you know the names of her children, you might see that she named her children after grandparents. That is a little clue. I found it was helpful to tape together some large sheets of paper and make a huge wall chart. Start with Ralph and make lines down to the descendants and list all their children as you find them. Use pencil because you will be erasing a lot! Eventually you will be able to see which generations they belong in, and you can visualize it better. If you start with what is already known and eliminate any Elizabeths that don't meet your criteria you will have a good start. There was probably an Elizabeth in every family, along with a Polly and a Rhoda! Good luck. Pat Torrance

    3. Dear Mike, I don't know about "mixing up" the Isham/Isam/Isom/Isaiahs. I have found one court record in Jennings County,Indiana where two different spellings were used, as well as Isaiah for the same man. One thing I have learned over the years is that there are no spelling absolutes in genealogy. You must be open to accept that everyone didn't have an education and words were frequently spelled the way they sounded. Just as Molly is also called Polly, and Martha and Patsy are the same person, I believe that Isam/Isom and Isham can be interchanged. I just pay attention to the location and the date to sort them out. Pat

    3. Mike, I am so glad you mentioned the difference in the use of the names. As a relatively new Blankenship researcher, I thought they were the same. I guess I should give up on receiving a response to my quire as to information about Elizabeth Blankenship, born around 1763 in Warren County and married in Warren County, around 1779/1780 to Humphrey Garland of Yancey County,NC. I didn't find an Elizabeth listed as a child of a Joseph. I would appreciate it very much if some one could offer any suggestions as to how to go about my search. 3. Felix Luther Blankenship, born May 1883, was the son of Samuel Newton Blankenship (1844-1909 McNairy Co, TN) and Lucinda Taylor (1852-1936 McNairy Co, TN). One of his brothers, Edward Lonzo Blankenship (1880-1976), lived in Louisville, KY and still has two daughters living there. Samuel Newton's sisters were: Jane, Elizabeth, Malvina, Martha, Lucretia (married Capooth), Julia (married Henry Melton). Luther's daughter, Sadie Deming, is still living in Ramer, TN. You can write her at Rt 2, Box 284, Ramer, TN 38367. Luther's grandson, Bobby Blankenship can be reached at 901-239-4911. I know he lived in the Louisville, KY area for a while also. Good luck. Kim Original Message: Do you have the parents of your Luther Blankenship? I know there are a lot of them in Tennessee, and I thought Luther was in Corbin, Ky. But since we did not have close touch and 50 yrs have passed I don't know what happened. Grandma Belle Blankenship Cruse died in 1936, so this nephew, Luther had to have visited her before that. If you have any of his connections in Ky also, I am interested. Also his parents. Thanks, Janet
