Howdy List, I think Dianna has another connection for me, but I'm going away for the weekend, will dig more later.....My GGrandfather Owen Henry Blankenship, married Malissa Hall in Rocky Mount VA, Her sister was Josephine Hall. I have a picture somewhere of her and her new baby (old)..she was beautiful. Their mother was Catharine Greer-Hall, father Spennel or Sparrel Hall. Hall's are my next project. Keep in touch!! TT
Does anyone have information on James Blankenship or Nancy Rogers. They married in White Co. TN, Feb. 1848. They are not on the 1850 census for TN. They possibly moved to MO. I found some information on the LDS site in Wright Co., MO but some of the information didn't match. If any of you have either James or Nancy in your line, I would really appreciate the help. Pattie

Diana: Where your family from? My great grandfather Sim Payne married a Lottie Blankenship after his first wife died. She had children already when they got married, I don't know how many. They lived in McDowell County, W. Va. Carol
Thank you so much for providing that list of initials. Many were new to me. Pat T.
my father remembers his father's name was Earnest michael, and that his father had two brothers and two sisters. The brothers are Randolph and Theodore. The sisters were Lottie and he thinks the other one was Sally. Well the one that he thinks her name was Sally had two sons one's name was Raymond Fisher, and the other one was Donald, They lived in ohio. and the sister named Lottie also had two children one was named Bill Blankenship because she married a cousin named Harry Blankenship, and her daughter he thinks her name was Patty, but he is not sure. He doesn't think that Randolph had any children. Theodore had 4or5 children but my father could not remember their names. Now my grandmother's maiden name was Hall, her first name was Esterlene, and her father which was my ggrandfather his name was Eldgin, we are not sure what her mothers name was, my ggrandfather was married twiced his first wife died and his second wife i believe her name was Josephine, and my grandmothers, brothers and sisters were Blanche, Kermit, Louise, Bud, Dorothy, Virginia,Claudine and my grandmotherher name was Esterlene, Well Blanche married Otis Wheeler and they had a child named Kenneth Wheeler. Kermit was married but can't remember wife's name but they had a child named Wendell. Louise was married to a man named David, can't remember her husbands last name but they had two children but my dad doesn't remember their names cause he only met them once and he was young. now Bud my dad doesn't remember his real name his wife's name he thinks was something like Euanita, well they had three boys named Robert, Richard and Dennis Hall. Dorothy was married but didn't have any children, Virginia married Michael Firkal, they had five children named,Virginia,Susan,Linda,Deborah and Michael Jr. Claudine had a son named Charles Morris,he married a Shirley Dixon and they had five boys named Billy, Bobby, Steven, Nathan and Daniel and they live in eden N.C. And that is pretty much all i have if any of you have any info to help me fill in the blanks i would appreciate what ever help i can get,

I have now found 2 Rowland Pryor BLANKENSHIPS here on this list, the one described by Janet Jensen as living 1879-1948. and one described by Nolene last year, who lived from ca. 1786 to est. 1850. Thanks for posting your lines. I found my DEACON EDWARD CLAPP in them. Thanks. Kathy in Nevada ----- Original Message ----- From: <MrsLady002@aol.com> To: <BLANKENSHIP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 11, 2000 8:05 PM Subject: RE: [BLANKENSHIP] Looking for Francis Clapp and family
Hey researchers, This may not mean a lot to all of you but to me it is a MAJOR find. This is just one part of what I hope will be many, many more that connects the Mass family to the VA family. I looked at the whole family chart on the Weeks and the same family were found in Bedford, VA living close to my line of Blankenships. 1. George Weeks born Abt 1603, Devonshire, England, Admitted to church 21-DEC-1639, married Abt 1625, in England, Jane Clapp, born Abt 1604, Salcombe Regis, Devonshire, England, (daughter of William Clapp and Johana Channon) died 2-Aug-1668, Dorchester, Suffolk Co., MA, Sister of Roger Clap. George died 27-Oct-1650, Dorchester, Suffolk Co., MA. 'GENEALOGY-WEEKES, WEEKS, WICKES,' 1885. Pg 27-32. Came from Devonshire, Eng to Dorchester, MA. 1635 (1636). Tradition has it that 3 brothers came with him, Thomas, Francis, one drowned-this one may be "Jo: [Joseph] age 26" Admitted to Church 21 Dec 1639. "made ffree" 13 May 1640. Inventory of estate appendix A1 Pg 385-6-7-8. 'Weekes Genealogy, Part II', 1892. Pge 64. In all probability a junior branch of the family of Roger Wykes, of Bindon, Axmouth. Home was at Salcombe Regis. Was there Oct 1636. Made Freeman 13-May-1640. Jane: Sister of Roger Clap. He came in the "Mary & John" abt 1630 to Dorchester,MA. Children: + 2. i William Weeks. + 3. ii Ammiel Weeks born 1633. + 4. iii Joseph Weeks. 5. iv Jane Weeks born England. 6. v John Weeks 7-Mar-1652. 7. vi Elizabeth Weeks 18-Sep-1653. This is from another list - thought it would come in handy. Initials after your ancestor's names may provide useful information that you'd not expected. The following list includes initials you may come across when reading old wills or other documents. a.a.s. died in the year of his/her age (anno aetitis suae) (86 y/o died in year 86) d.s.p. died without issue (decessit sine prole) d.s.p.l. died without legitimate issue (decessit sine prole legitima) d.s.p.m.s. died without surviving male issue (decessit sine prole mascula supersita) d.s.p.s died without surviving issue (decessit sine prole supersita) d.unm died unmarried d.v.p. died in the lifetime of his father (decessit vita patris) d.v.m. died in the lifetime of his mother (decessit vita matris) Et al and others (et alia) Inst present month (instans) Liber book or volume Nepos grandson Nunc Nuncapative will, an oral will, written by a witness Ob he/she died (obit) Relict widow or widower (relicta/relictus) Sic so or thus, exact copy as written Testes witnesses Ult late (ultimo) Ux wife (uxor) Viz namely (videlicet)
Hi researchers, This is what I have PUT together so far on the Clapp family. I have not proven any of this yet, and I do not have any proof that any of this is right. I have taken it from several websites for the Clapp family, LDS, Ancestry.com, Family Tree Maker search page, and just anywhere I could find a Clapp listed. After all of this work I still do not see a place I could even start to put Francis Clapp that was imported by Martha. I know I have a lot of holes and gapes in my list below and I was kinda hoping that some of you could help me fill them. I also know that all of the work below could be the wrong family. All I have to go on with this line is: 35. Ezra6 Clapp (Edward5, Elder William4, Richard3, William2, Roger1) was born 22 May 1640 in Dorchester, Suffolk, Massachusetts, and died 23 January 1716/17 in Milton, Suffolk, Massachusetts. He married (1) Abigail Pond Abt. 1667 in Milton, , MA, daughter of Robert Pond and Mary Ball. She was born 1646 in Dorchester, Dorset, England, and died 12 October 1682 in Milton, Norfolk, Massachusetts. He married (2) Experience Houghton 22 May 1684 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. She was born 01 August 1659 in Charlestown, Suffolk, Mass, and died 17 December 1717 in Milton, Suffolk, Massachusetts. Child of Ezra Clapp and Abigail Pond is: + 61 i. Abigail7 Clapp, born 1675 in Milton, , MA; died 06 July 1713 in Sudbury, Middlesex, MA. I am thinking that our Martha may have been a Pond, and the Abigail Pond that married Ezra Clapp would have been Martha's sister, and therefore Martha would have been kin to the Clapp's. She could have imported Francis Clapp for family reasons. Again this is only me thinking out loud, I have nothing to base any of this one at this point. Again I will ask if you all will look at this list and tell me if you see any names that you might recognize or if there is any connection to your line here anywhere. Hey all researchers, I am looking for Francis Clapp that was imported by Martha on July 9. 1724. This is the information I cut and pasted into my family tree file. Lloyd Bockstruck, "The Blankenship Family of Virginia," The American Genealogist, XXXII (1976) 240; On 9 July 1724, Martha obtained a patent for 250 acres in Henrico County at Mr. Henry Walthall's line on the east side of the main road upon payment of 20 shillings and for importing Francis Clapp. I when to the LDS website and typed in FRANCIS CLAPP and on the year part I put in 1704 + or - 20 years. I thought this would cover the time before and during the import in 1724. The list below is what I got from the LDS website. Now what I would like for all of you to do is: Please take a look at the names below and see if any of them make a connection with any of the people in your line. See if you recognize any of the wives names, or places they were married. Has any checked with Montgomery County records to see if their are records their about Nancy, the wife of Noah Blankenship. The "elders" - so to speak, of my family told me that Nancy was from Montgomery County. I myself have never checked, but before I did, I thought I'd run that by everyone. Hi All Researchers, I am sticking my neck way out on the limb for this one, BUT I think is it worth it. Could this Martha Pond below be OUR Martha?????? Before you start screaming and hallowing NO NO NO, please listen to the reasons I think she might be. 1. I cannot find who Martha married. 2. her birthday fits in the time period with Ralph. 3. I know that OUR Martha was paid for importing Francis Clapp and the Desire Clapp 21 OCT 1679, listed below is kin to Ann Blankenship and James Blankenship from Mass. 4. There is a William Pond and Judith Gordon, in the list below and I know that James used the alias as Gordon.
