Does that mean that this info could lead to more papers regarding his estate in probate? If so, do you guys know what type of info they would obtain, remembering that this is 1865 we are talking about. ... Knowing how and where to ontain them will be extreamly helpful because on my Madison line, I need to get whatever records I can on my grandfather who died in 1982. He was a business owner, but he sold it a little while before he died, so I dont know what is available to me. My father was the product of an extra martial affair so my g-pa's line is done through public info, I do not know the names of his children with his wife, so any suggestions as to what public records are available would be helpful. I have his birth/death certificates as well as his info from the social security office. Thank you guys for being so gracious to offer advice, being a baby at this, I really appreciate it! Try to get death certificates then - they usually list the parents names as well as spouse and decedent information.

Am looking for my grandparents. My grandfather was born in TN. 3-4-1873 He married Jarusha Anise Blankenship 11-6-1895. Don't know where. She was born in AR. Maybe Little Rock. They had a child in Red Co., Clarksville, Tx in 1896. They were listed with 2 children in the 1900 census in Hill Co., TX. He died of cancer 12-8-1914. No idea where. His name is up for debate. Looking at the documents and comparing what his children said his name was: Dolphard Anders Loven Dolphas Andrew Loven Dolphus Anders Loven D.A. Loven Can you help? Willa R. True, but that type of administration is called administration, with will attached or Administration d._._. I have been retired for 6 years and out of law school for many years and such latin terms long ago escaped my limited memory. Thats for answering my last question, which brings me to my new question. I am not sure how to go beyond Calvin. I wore out the Census, I have a copy of the certificate he would of received when he purchased land, but it didnt give me any info besides how many acres of land he bought. His state of birth has remained consistent on the census that he was born in Tennessee. his dob is placed btw 1820-1825. The first and only place I have found Deliah and Calivin has been on Missouri Census begining in 1850 and ending in 1880. What records would I want to search to get more info on them, such as her maiden name/parents and his parents names? He was a Confederate Soldier in Missouri, which is the worst place for surviving records because their arent any other than his muster roll (I have already checked). Any suggestions would be grately appreciated! You are on the right track, but a little off. The 2 Sept 1865 is in all likelyhood the day that letters of administration were issued. By this we know that he died without a will, otherwise she would have been the executrix. The 2 men listed were surties. They posted security to insure that she disrtibuted the estate according to law. Generally people who did this were paid a fee similar to bondsmen today. Dear Mamma Kay: I read you e-mail about the postcard and the pizza party. I send the request to all of my friends online. I hope you have lots of luck this year with the return cards. My postcard is in the mail so ask Mrs. B to watch out for it. I think this is one wonderful idea. Anything to start the children out on the right foot to learning. I want Roanoke, Virginia to be counted in as a state the children heard back from. Now for my two cents: Genealogy is all about families and who was married to whom and when, and who had the most children and who the children married. If we all cannot get behind Kay the List Owner on this one, I think it is time we all give up our research work and when to do other things in life. Sue B. Altice

Pat, my paternal grandmother (not on the Blankenship line)reportedly had some Native American blood but when she was born in the late 1800's, it was frowned on having a bi-racial marriage. We have tried to prove that but as with so many other things in genealogy what our ancestors hid, they did a superb job at it.
