Is there a Blankenship site, where all the Blankenship's can post the information they have. Such as copies of census, Blankenship marriage information, land deeds, wills, etc? Post our trees or descendent charts? Generally a place where we can post information for current & future Blankenship researchers. Some of us have created sites for that purpose in our other surnames, for instance I have a Bias/Byus Family site, and a Peyton Place Site. Another researcher has a McComas Site, another a Hager site, another a Poteet Site, a Crabtree Site and so on. To describe what is possible, on the Bias site about 80 active members and additional members that drop in only 1-2 times a month or less. We have all of the following; In the FILE CABINET- actual land deeds scanned in, including the original land grant in 1750, we all post research results we get from county court houses, marriage records, census, deaths, obits, newspapers, births. We also post descendent charts for many Branches that are related by marriage to the Bias family in the file cabinet. In the PHOTO ALBUM we post photos, we have a lot back into the early 1800s and through today, incredible what we actually each had. In the HISTORY we post stories of individual family members, excerpts from published works regarding family members, and general stories pertaining to the specifics of the area (Amherst Co, VA & a tri Co, VA/WV area) that influenced the Family. In the NEWS we post Links to all major & obscure research sites, queries and info to other members, comments about things on the site, member intros, and Brick Wall requests. FAMILY TREES, in this location about 15 of us have each posted our personal family trees, additionally we have collaborated on a Bias/Byus Master tree and that now contains over 12,000 descendents of James Byas/Bias, ca 1722, of Amherst VA. He is to us what Ralph Blankensopp was to the Blankenship's. We did not go more than 1 generation beyond a surname change, the parents of & the children & spouses of any non Bias person marrying into the family. We did that as a matter of keeping the tree manageable. The Trees are searchable by individual, so they are a great research tool for all of the members. The site is password protected and private, therefore we can post what we choose with relative safety of information shared. It is our intention to post the Bias/Byus Master Tree onto Rootsweb & Ancestry.com right after the first of the year, we will then continue to update on our site and download the updates to both of those sites. The advantage to the private site is the privacy and the ability to have the harmony to work more closely together in common goals. If the McComas Family members were able to post in the same location as the Bias and Peyton and all the other surname groups, it would rapidly be an overload of info, so this situation is working well and I believe all of we Blankenship's could benefit from the same thing. One of the Beauties of the system, when I am posting anything to the Bias/Byus site, if it is of value to any or all of the other sites that I am a member of, I can choose to post simultaneously to any of them. Any of the other sites have the same ability and so all the sites are growing rapidly in assets, I do not post Bias info to the Peyton or other sites, but I do post all general info, i.e.; research links to all sites. This of course reduces the administrative time for anyone individual. The other point is that each of us has access to many different local locations, national databases, CD's, actual documents etc, and all the availability information becomes fantastic when consolidated. Often we find that what we had assumed was a fact turns out to be family myth and visa-versa. So consider it, if any of you that are interested, please contact me, if there are at least 5-10 that are willing to share some of the consolidation & posting of the info they have, then I am willing to create the site and load in the info I have. It is then just a matter of sending out an announcement of the availability of the site, those that want to participate are then sent an invitation with their individual password & user name. We all have the ability to add new members as we find them in our research travels. If I get no response I will assume there is either another site already in existence, please let me know where. Or I will know that I* did not explain the advantages of this consolidation and sharing very well. Thanks for your consideration, I guess I have just seen so much info shared on this Blankenship list, some of it multiple times, that I think this may be a timely consideration for all of us. Does anyone have access to the 1920 Montgomery Co, IL census? I found James M. Blankenship living there before his death in 1968 but cannot find when he moved there. I believe it was before 1910. He was born in White Co., TN, s/o John J. and Catherine Blankenship, in 1878. I would like to find who he married and if he had children. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Pattie

Tina, I don't have a Raymond Fielding BLANKENSHIP listed but do have a Ray, son of Loren and Laura Alice (Hatfield) BLANKENSHIP. They were married in 1891 so I would assume his date of birth to be after that. Kay
Does anyone have any idea who Frank Blankenship and Hyram Blankenship they are on the 1880 MO census I don't know what county or township. I found the information on census link. If anyone could tell me who their families were children ect... it would be appreciated it. thanks, Regina
I am new to this list and am looking for information on Hugh M. Blankenship who married Martha M. Hudson Prather in Navarro Co., Texas in 1860. They had a daughter, Medora 7 January 1861. Martha who family records say was a widow married David Green Heflin in Navarro County in 1863. Other that a family Bible record of her birth, we can find no further record of Medora. She is not listed on the 1870 census with her mother and David Heflin. Did she die before 1870 or did her mother leave her with Hugh's family when she married Mr. Heflin. When did Hugh Die? Was he in the Civil War? Margaret McCleskey, Arlington, TX
